Forums - Gaming Discussion - A Microsoft turn around? The importance of games in gaming.

How can you see the same on Mario Shunshine, Mario Galaxy and Mario 3D world? Really, I can´t understand it. You need to be extremely superficial to think that way or someone that didn´t played any of those games.

Bloodborne plays VERY differetly? lol, is just more quick, is like Demon Souls. Bloodborne is everything but original, it has the same mechanics and the level design is quite similar, the only massive change is the artstyle. The gameplay is Demon Souls with a gun and more faster.

Unless you have played these its not fair to give opinion. I have owned Wii and played Wii U quite a bit at my friends home (never owned GC). Plus as I have said "to each his own". In mario games you just collect coins and complete a small stage. Same can be said to bloodborne (you collect blood echoes and compelte a stage). But what makes it different is its story and achievement. Take for example, father G. The fate of his wife and his daughter is a sad one. You slowly unfold their story. Every character has a story and it binds the game togeather. This is a unique aspect of the game while also satisfying (beating blood starved beast is an awesome feeling). This is what makes it different.

Sony has won over the trust of gamers last gen, their exclusive games over the course of the generation blew away Microsofts imo, especially at the end.  Also Wii U has the weakest library out of the three, idk why people act like third parties don't count.

You don't buy a console at the beginning of the generation just for the games out then, you buy it for what the console will be by the end of the generation.

This has always felt like a bit of a misnomer. Pound for pound the Xbox 360 had a tonne of amazing games, able to compete with just about any system, ever.

It was still releasing great games up until last year.

Exclusives only matter. Until they don't.

This thread just brings silly ass opinions from bias ppl. The one guy basically said MS PR has brainwashed the entire fanbase. Quite ironic and hilarious to me.

Exclusives do matter, and none of the years of 360 were as good as 2009, 2011 and 2013 were for PS3. You can ignore that guy, but you can't ignore the incredible lineup of exclusives PS3 had during these years.

The truly protagonist on Mario games is the Level Design, and that has suffer massive changes over the years, look what Galaxy did, It was pure virtuosity of level design, it was mindblowing, how can anybody thinks "is just another Mario", that´s EXTREMELY superficial. A good lore is ok, but how you can be comparing a platformer with an rpg on that? seriously? And how can you be saying that Bloodborne is different because it has a Lore with some sad story? Dark Souls is sad and has a great Lore too, one that you slowly unfold too.

Had a bunch of xbox arcade games during that time. They didn't count in this fake war though.

I pointed to games like bayonetta. As for mario games; they are just nostalgia for me. Games that are called "cultural phenomenon" are no longer released in Nintendo home systems.

True. Can't remember the last big new Nintendo IP hit that turned into a popular franchise with multiple entries. I may be overlooking but I really can't think of it.

And for cultural phenomenon I meant these.

To be honest,at this point in time,Microsoft does have the better exclusives as a whole though

and your last statement in the last few lines applies to all the big 3. Everything stated in those lines is exactly what sony/microsoft/nintendo fans do as a whole, its not just exclusive to one fanbase

To be honest, we have to assign that to personal taste, as it is a fact that PS4 has so far the best single exclusive game, and that by a huge difference from XOne's best rated exclusive which is Forza Horizon 2.

Factor in the fact that PS4 exclusive games come out at significantly shorter intervals than XOne's, it is very hard for Microsoft to defend a position of exclusive superiority.

What you just stated in the first line was personal taste as well and not a fact. you cant write off someone elses view point and deem it as an opinion but then claim your own is fact.  not how it works  sir

I am sorry, but my statement of fact is a statement of fact based on critical reception (aka Metacritic score). Sure, arguably that is also just a collection of personal tastes, but it is still the only tangible, measurable tool of quality that we have available.

Your statement is opinion and person taste, nothing more. so agree to disagree time :)

Same can be said to bloodborne. Its level design are much different than souls games. And dont ask me or this forum (because this forum isnt the actual gaming popualtion). Just google it or ask "average joe" gamer. Will they say the same thing what I have said. Yup.

Well you did, but that doesn't make 360 lineup better than PS3 even if we count them, according to me.

As for the war, I find it pointless. We should enjoy playing games and discussing about them, not fight wars for the sake of putting down choice of someone else. If you are happy with what you get on Xbox, then that's great and probably Xbox is the best place for you to game on.

But to be fair, its the OP who started this kind of war, and he is on Xbox side.

Pretty much what Goodnightmoon has said has been spot on imo
