Cutting the Wii U price serves little purpose now. They're just riding it out since after holiday 2013.

Interesting...

By following that graph, the Wii U should have a price cut soon then

Logic would suggest a price cut in preparation for the launch of a big game... Like Mario Kart 8, or Smash 4, or Splatoon... But this is Nintendo XD

I'm willing to bet there will be a $249.99 Mario Maker bundle in September.

Hidden behind Nintendo's stacks of $$$.

Everyone knows Nintendo doesn't have stacks of money, instead they have a ton of DS, DS Lites and DSI's which print them all the money they need.

OP: They're probably ( as some users have said ) trying to maximise profits. Same with he Wii which up to this same period of time, still didn't get a price cut.

Send a Friend Request On PSN :P

The Wii U basic model dropped to $199 within a year of launch, that's how I picked mine up back in 2013.

Doesn't that mean they're causing inflation?

Look at your graph, there will be a price cut this year. Betting 1 week ban.

Vita isnt putting up enough of a fight for the 3DS so nintendo are just milking that cash cow (the consumers).
They have huge returns on each unit sold.

Wii U has a really expensive gamepad thats sold with the consol, it really limited how much they could slash prices.

TBH i kinda do not understand how the WiiU gamepad is expensive lol.

I mean I bought two Gigaset (you might remember them as Siemens Gigaset phone manufacturers) QV830 8" Tablets for 45€ each. They have an aluminum case instead of plastic and obviously a glas display. (only the two sides are chromed plastic) The thing even came with a screen protector applied.

  • Processor: Quad-core 1.2 GHz, Cortex A7
  • Storage: 8 GB eMMC
  • Display: 8" Multi-touch; 5-point projected capacitive type, G/G with 1024x768, 4:3 TFT/IPS panel.
  • RAM: 1 GB DDR3l
  • Front camera: 1.2 MP; 720 p (HD) FF
  • Rear camera: 5 MP autofocus
  • Wi-Fi: 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz
  • Bluetooth: BT 4.0 LE
  • GPS: WiFi-based A-GPS
  • Battery: 3260 mAh / 3.7V Type: Lithium Polymer
  • Sensors: 3D G sensor, E-compass
  • Cameras: Front camera with 1.2MP; 720p (HD) FF, Rear Camera with 5MP Auto Focus
  • Memory extension: micro SDHC (up to 32 GB)

The whole thing has just 3 negative points it just has a 18bit display and it obviously just has 4 or so buttons instead of 20 or so like the gamepad has (and it obviously lacks the analog sticks. And it just has a bad mono speaker. But thats it everything else is superior to the gamepad like it it does not have an expensive proprietary charger it just uses normal micro USB.

I do know that this tech was not available when the WiiU launched but nooned prevents them from using more common hardware now. The "its expensive" phrase is probably as much nonsense as the "Prease rook we arso bundre it with a 1.5m HDMI cabre. Thats a varue of 20 euros."  To bad I bought a 10m HDMI cable for 5€from ebay the week before they made that statement. Oh well..

Wii U in the UK can be picked up for peanuts.
