The expectations for this game is too tall, I don´t expect selling that much in one week.

6m (worldwide?) for week#1 seems about right. When you break it down by platform/territory, its not that insane really. Remember - its shipment figures as well - sellthrough for week#1 could be as low as 50%-60%.

US: 2m 360, 1m PS3
Europe: 1m 360, 1m PS3
Japan: (later)

In many ways, its the biggest game of this entire generation (cross-platform title anyway).

I still think WiiFit will outsell it this year - for any single platform anyway (combined, probably not).

I would say 3 million max, most likely around 2 million

Like Shams said (and I think I and other earlier) this is shipments, for both consoles, it is also assumedly worldwide... so is therefore a pretty good estimate.

And then, you probably cut that installed base by 25% or more because of people that own BOTH consoles...they'll only get it one one of them (like me).

So then, you're looking at a total of 35 million potential buyers...then you have a 25.5% attach rate. Just seems high to me.

But, I could very well be wrong. I actually hope it does really well.


 at the time, gta usually has higher than 20% attatch rate.  also, 47 is high because many will be multi owners.

It is not unreasonable to think it will. The buyers are certainly there when considering how much it sold in the previous generation of consoles.

PS3 will sell 6 million units of GTA 4 in one week alone.

GTA4 could be a really fun game... or it could be an epic flop... shipping 6 million units tells me they are putting all their eggs in the GTA basket.

To me this means they don't have faith in their products quality. They are hoping it gets Halo'd and sells so much on day 1 people don't have time to spread negative word of mouth... I sense a letdown in the making. I have not heard much GTA buzz amoung "gamers" that I know, not like I do with halo.
