As a child of the 4th gen who still considers the SNES the greatest console ever made, I really don't get the hype for Super Metroid.

It has a built in tutorial that didn't feel like a tutorial. You explore a beautiful, expansive, immense, and atmospheric alien world. The gameplay is great and keeps you wanting more via upgrades and secrets. The story is impactful despite being simplistic. It is the merger of good game design, with good setting design, and good gameplay. What confuses you?

The controls and shooting mechanics for one. Aiming diagonally was a chore, and enemies often moved in way that made them very awkward to hit. The button layout felt unintuitive to me.

I know you're trolling but, Halo 3 is pretty much a Metroid Prime clone.

maybe i've played Metroid in the NES but i can't remember that much. I've bought Metroid prime trilogy and played the 1st one on my Wii U.

Finished all of them! Except that most recent one.

I get your question, but I think everyone on vgchartz has heard of it to some degree. Out in public, that's a different question ;)

Yep.

As for my personal experience with Metroid, I've only played part of Super Metroid and that's all XD

You have the option to remap the buttons to your liking.

The only Nintendo franchise I can name smaller than Metroid is Star Fox.  So yeah, pretty darn small.

Xenoblade? F-Zero? Advance Wars? Pilot Wings? Wave Race? Pikmin? Golden Sun? Fire Emblem? Custom Robo?
