Forums - Gaming - Square Enix moves press conference time

I'd like to think this is a positive sign - if Square Enix didn't have reason to think there would be people simultaneously interested in both presentations, they wouldn't have needed to move theirs. So I choose to assume this means that SE expects there to be some reason for Wii U or 3DS owners to watch their presentation...

Doubtful, but I do like your optimism.

Maybe they show Bravely Second or oneof the Dragon Quest games on the 3DS. Nintendo might limit their presentation to first-second party games, so SE wil have to show those in their time.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

It's not actually as doubtful as you might think.

Bravely Second is meant to release in Western countries at some point, but does not currently have a release date. Also unreleased in the west but released for 3DS in Japan are Final Fantasy Exporers and Theatrhythm Dragon Quest. And there's the new Dragon Quest remake that would be a natural release outside of Japan. And there's Dragon Quest XI that is rumoured, at least, to be headed to the Wii U - note that, in Japan, the Wii U is still around 900,000 units ahead of the PS4, and Dragon Quest is primarily a Japanese-oriented franchise.

Also add Dragon Quest X in Japan, and the obvious potential for Nintendo to organise for the game to be translated for release in the West... it doesn't seem too farfetch'd (if you'll pardon the pokemon) for there to be a few Nintendo-relevant announcements.

I certainly wouldn't call it a sure thing (hence my wording, "I choose to assume..."), but it's not THAT unlikely, especially given how well the 3DS is doing in the west and how poorly (relatively) the Vita is doing (the 3DS is at about 5x the Vita in install base, both in the west and in Japan).

Dragon Quest X would be a completely welcome addition, I just don't see it coming being we are so far into the Wii U life cycle. You figured if S-E wanted to release the game they would have a LOOONNNNG time ago. This would get me hyped if they do reveal it, I just really don't think they will.

Bravely Second is a gimme, I'm sure it'll be there. That said, they will more than likely show nothing more than a localized trailer a lot of fans worldwide have already seen. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for this game, but showing footage from this is a far cry from a surprise E3 megaton for Nintendo. In fact it's pretty much the exact opposite.

I really don't see them announcing anything new either, for any console. Not that I'm saying there won't be any new trailers, it's just everything they show will be from titles we already know about coming to platforms we already have confirmation they are going to. There is just to many games in the pipeline as it is. FF XV, Kingdom Hearts III, Star Ocean, Tomb Raider, Bravely Second (localization wise), Final Fantasy Explorers (localization), That indie style game I forget the title of (people thought it was SaGa), the FF VII PC port, Deus Ex, ect. Just a lot on the plate.

On the other hand I'm expecting MUCH, MUCH more from Nintendo. Star Fox and Devil's Third are games I think could really be something big for Wii U owners. Project Treasure interests me, but free to play worries me, Project X Zone 2 interests me (because I liked the first one), and there is speculation Retro Studios has a new Wii U title coming as well as rumors from an "insider" that three remakes are in the pipeline to be announced at E3.

I didn't say anything about a megaton for Nintendo, or anything else like that. I just said it sounds like SE have something they want Wii U and/or 3DS owners to see - if they didn't, there would be no harm in holding their presser at the same time as Nintendo's presentation.

Sqaure Enix finally does something that makes sense! I'm impressed.

Maybe, but nothing we haven't already seen one way or another I'll bet.

Doesn't matter what time anyones is as soon as Nintendo's starts imo.

Basing on last year I will watch Microsoft and Sony. They are day before right?

Then I will watch Nintendo's Direct, then i will be sitting around watching the Treehouse LIVE whenever its on.

When its done then i will go to youtube and watch whatever conferences i missed while Treehouse was going on.

Treehouse is amazing. Don't see how other companies didnt' do somethign like it this year.
