Forums - Nintendo - If the new Zelda is released on NX, will it change how you view the Wii U?

Wii u is one of the best Nintendo consoles regardless of when Zelda comes out! And if X lives up to the hype and star fox isn't all motion controlled Wii u could be my favorite console of all time!!!!!!

I have good news for you: The Star Fox motion controls were confirmed to be 100% optional months ago :)

I think they are going to be as good as the Splatoon controls, but the option is very nice.

Guys, just to play devil's advocate here, how do we KNOW that Zelda will release in 2016? On the latest release calendar, it was listed as TBD. It could theoretically release in 2017. Also, my theory is that the reason why it's not being shown at this years E3 is because something is being changed and/or added to the game that has to do with NX.

This is exacly what I've been thinking. When Nintendo delayed it, they didn't say we've delayed it to 2016, all they said was that it was delayed out of 2015. Surely if they were just delaying it to next year, they wouldn't have had a press release this vague?

Personally I do not see this happening because of a few reasons.

1) The latest I see the new Zelda release is October, I kind of expect a September release though and the earliest I see the NX coming out, if it is a handheld, is November 2016, and then it wouldn't be coming out for the NX since it is a handheld (unless they do major work to it).

2)If the NX is meant to be either a fusion concept or a home console which both would mean it would be a sucessor for the Wii U, the NX will not be out until winter of 2017, spring of 2017 if they release the information on it earlier in 2016 in a direct or at GDC. Because much like Nintendo always has the same press conference slot before E3. Nintendo has never devated a 18 month release cycle for its home consoles. Which starts when they have informational reveal of console and their vision for it. Then about 4 months from release have a coming out party for it. This goes are far back as the N64, which is the farthest I can find out about the announcement information on.

Also as other have said the Wii U currently has some excellent games so it purchase was well worth it.

Xenoblade Chronicles X alone will justify my Wii U purchase, with games like Splatoon, Yoshi, Mario Kart 8, Smash, Mario 3D World, Captain Toad, and others leaving me feeling overall "satisfied" with Wii U. There will be some disappointment if it doesn't have its own exclusive Zelda title though, I agree.

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

I have accepted since before the reveal. I decided to give Nintendo the benefit of showing a good management but it was pretty clear since the TP days that something was wrong with the team. Having long development cycles (5 years) just show how inefficient and incompetent they are.

Nobody in this thread can guarantee Zelda is going to be released next year. Since the delay announcement I have pointed that this game is TBD and Aonuma never mentioned 2016 as a release date, and even odder the fact that they are not going to show this E3. Why? Because this one is focused on 3DS and Wii U while the next one will (most likely) show us the "new concept" of the NX.

Could the "new concept" of the NX be the "new posibilities" of Zelda? Yes, it could. Nobody can rule out that. My most optimisstic prediction is a November 2016 release date for the Zelda 30th anniversary alongside an NX version, released on launch or in 2017.

I get what you guys are saying regarding NX likely being a handheld. I guess I should've made my title say 'Nintendo's next home console' or something. But regardless, I think at this point it is fair to wonder what the deal is with the new Zelda. Something is up with that game, and Nintendo could very easily be in the process of converting for release on a new system. I understand that this is complete speculation, but it's still interesting to think about.

i highly doubt it will come to nx.

I also think many people missunderstand the given facts.

1. Zelda wii U is not delayed to 2016. They just said "2015 is not our top priorety".
In dec 2014 they were very sure about a 2015 release. So im pretty sure the game is almost done, they maybe just saw the possibilty to dont finish it in 2015. Im expecting a Q2/2016 release as latest possibility. I wont say the game is 100% not happening in 2015.

2. As far we know, the nx should not replace the wii u. So bringing the game for both console will automatical hurts the sales of the other system. Wont be a smart move.

3. They already announced zelda wii u (they even showed a zelda demo e3 2011).
Now a days wii u owners are the loyalists nintendo supporter nintendo ever had. And they are still 10 mio (probl 15 mio till 2016). I dont think nintendo will make they 15 mio loyalst fans angry.

NX is not likely a handheld. NX is a new platform with a new concept. It could be a tablet, a handheld, a console, a car or whatever. You don't have to believe everything they say to you just because it fit with their ilusion of a perfect Nintendo.

Ever speculation is valid and this topic is one of the most interesting. Remember that Nintendo denied many times that Twilight Princess was going to be released on Wii and the delay was just for the sake of a better game. We know now that the delay was solely with the purpose of a Wii version. If many decided to ignore that, good, but many has that present.

My view on Wii U as a whole will be decided at the end of its lifetime just like every other system. So every game it gets is a plus for it.

now I'm pretty sure it won't be an NX game as that console won't be out for at least two more years and there is no way they will delay Zelda for that long
