My problem with the iphone is that...no controls. I don't want EVERYTHING to be touchbased.

I agree with this. This might be the biggest short coming. The accelerometer + touch might not be enough for some games. Anyway I'm still going to make some small games for it :)

Well it does have ONE button on it :)

There are already quite a few games running on it. The SNES emulator has been ported, they emulated the buttons graphically. To get some tactial sense, you take one of those plastic 'screen protectors' and cut it using a template. Then the buttons 'feel' plasticky and you can use them without looking. I have only tried it briefly (on a iTcouh not my iphone) and it worked pretty well.

I see people playing games all the time on their blackberry's. Now that the iPhone devkit is out I expect the simple games to get ported first, then the more complex ones as well.

Apple won't be writing any games. They don't have to.

Trying to convince me the Wii is a real adult game machine 'if you play it right' is like trying to convince me Tofu tastes great 'if you just cook it right'

Once Apple stops locking you into a super-expensive phone contract and increases the storage capacity to 160GB, THEN I will buy an iPhone in an instant. It will be the super-device to rule all. Easily as capable as the PSP or DS.

iPod Touch doesn't have any phone contract ;)

Well , Iphone games will look good , but nothing compared to the PSP colosals like CoO , CC or Syphon Filter . Still , judging by the videos Ive seen , the graphics are lookign better than DS graphics , but they are still far from PSP quality ...

Somebody wrote , that if the Iphone will take off as the Ipod it will be a huge contender . Wrong , the Iphone could take off as a quality , multicapable mobile phone , but Im not shure that it wil be a popular gaming device , and also , we still have the recently launched Nokia gaming service ( yes , its N-gage , but not the old one :P ) .

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

All that's cool but I don't really like apple , they're more consumer un-friendly than MS.

Yup, and the current gen of consoles and handhelds are showing us that its powerful graphics, not a creative interface, that sells more systems. The iphone + ipod touch will probably sell more than the PSP, so I see it as being a viable gaming system for the people who aleady own it. On the other hand, I don't see many non-apple fans going out to buy an Iphone simply for the gaming experince.

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

Neither the Iphone or the Ipod touch have near the life span of the PSP , how are they meant to outsell it ?

Let's end this "Super expensive" nonsense right now.

When did  $60/month become super expensive? I started work in the US right around when the iPhone came out. The iPhone plans were cheaper than anything else I could find. Oh sure there were some great deals on 5000/mo minute plans..but oh wait data is extra...oh wait 0.10/pr text message..oh wait did you want voicemail with that?

Can you get me an unlimited data (not just 'email') plan, nights and weekends at 6pm, 1000 text messages, unlimited voice mail and 500 minutes a month for $60 on another top-tier carrier?  No, you can't.  The iPhone plans are actually LESS than the same plan from AT&T using a blackberry!

I just flipped through my old bookmarks...the iPhone plans are the best deal in America right now. Period.

Of course if you think $60/month is 'super expensive' then the iPhone is probably not for you anyway!
