I guess my point was not very stated point that I thought these stats only stack after so many. So I said that basicly only the hat is actually helping him. The rest are DQ.

 

You really should try to distribute your points. 

They do always increase the effect. It just becomes smaller each new addition. It might add +0.00001% of defense at that point, but it always add more

Actually I'd say 3 mains is the ideal amount, since that increases shots to kill for the most amount of weapons possible, and the guns that are affected by just one main a.k.a. Splattershot and .52 generally use enough strength to counter up to 2 defense mains, but not 3 (that's just based on what I've seen though). Using maximum defense however, yeah definitely not worth it. I assume it's just like strength up, where no amount of it will ever allow you to break past even one defense main for certain damage tiers, hence 2 mains and 6 subs of strength is the most that should ever be used.
