This, I was thinking the same. Would have been a better Holiday title than Mario Tennis.

I can see an add out of this. Mario and Luigi are playing a slow game of tennis, with the crowd looking bored. Then, suddenly, a voice comes out and says "The future is fast", people look everywhere, and suddenly you're watching a Fast Racing Neo game, all cool and fast. Only on Nintendo WiiU.

Likely cost plus Shin'en themselves have expressed no interest in physical releases themselves.  So Nintendo would be the one initiating the negotiation, footing the bill, doing the promotion. 

However, i think a physical release would be good.  In fact, a Nindies Selects release would be good, taking top picks from Nintendo focused indies and giving them physical releases.  Runbow, Affordable Space Adventures, FAST Racing Neo, and Shantae and the Pirate's Curse would be good choices.
