Well, yeah, there was that too.But I still think that missing Black Friday killed some sales off that game. But then again, the Wii U was barely selling any systems, so it might not have made much difference for XCX.But it could be a great boon for XC 2

But that also goes to speak volumes about XC franchise.Even with that horrible marketing and backing behind the game, it still managed to have those kind of sales(and it being a relatively unknown franchise). So yeah, potential is there for XC 2 and hopefully Nintendo goes all out on it.Because Monolithsoft deserves it, and if done right, Xeno could be the RPG juggernaut of Nintendo.

Not only that, but both Xenoblade games to date released (in the West anyway) on systems that were effectively on their deathbed. XB2 will be the first time the series can stretch its legs on a platform in its prime.

Yeah, and thats what gets me most excited about.Xenoblade is a series that deserves to sell and be loved. So if XC 2 can sell at the very least 2 million units, it will signal Nintendo "This is a franchise that has a bright future ahead" and keep surporting, allowing a bigger budget, and ensures that Nintendo has a big RPG franchise witha clear face, which is something that Nintendo does not have.Sure, it has Mario RPG spin off rpgs, but Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi are a shadow of what they used to be, and Golden Sun was left in the unused IP closet.A first party RPG selling very well may encourage Nintendo to give a second chance to all its RPGs franchises and give them a fresh take(so not just a second chance per se, but a second first chance)Xenoblade needs to be successful.

UNDERSTAND THAT PEOPLE?YOU GUYS BETTER BUY XENOBLADE CHRONICLES 2!!!!

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Agreed. The other thing I think is very valuable in Xenoblade as a series is that it brings a welcome diversity to Nintendo's lineup.

Sure, E-rated mascot games are nice, but variety is the spice of life, and if XB2 can sell well, hopefully it will encourage Nintendo to further invest in properties with a little more bite than Mario or Kirby.

Xenoblade is also the only first party full blown RPG to my knowledge.  Horizon is more of an action game with RPG elements.  Honestly, Nintendo's diversity in first and second party showings now is admirable and with Metroid making a comeback and Arms turning out strong, it's even better.  You have 3D platformers, 2D platformers, cart racing, fighting games both 2D and 3D, open world (to varying degrees) RPG, open world action adventure, puzzle, third person shooters, first person action advutre, real time strategy, tactical RPG, it's really extensive.

In terms of gameplay genres yes, but tonally their output can get a little homogenous with almost everything tending towards the light-hearted and child-friendly. That's where Xenoblade and Prime 4 come in.

You mean Ultra SM? :p

Well I feel there's considerable tonal variety within their E offerings.  Zelda, for example, is usually in between The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, save for the Wind Waker universe games.  And let's not forget they do have a horror franchise too, even if it is the very definition of niche.  And I would say Fire Emblem wluld go along with Metroid and Xenoblade as more serious.

Zelda still is kid-friendly and doesn't have the impact of something like Xenoblade or Metroid. Sometimes I just need something a bit spicier than Nintendo usually provides.
