So it's only considered marketing when they add useless filler to their presentations?
Your speculation doesn't answer my question. Btw Sony and Microsofts presentations are also just people talking in front of a screen and trailer reels, so I don't see what's so much more exciting there, and neither do the masses of course as again most don't even watch E3 conferences.
I'll just take it you agree that no presentation format could have saved E3 2015 from being bad.
Uh yes obviously if people were buying the system. That's just your opinion that it didn't have worthwhile games, an opinion the masses clearly disagreed with.

I don't understand how you can call "useless filler" to the extras they have on their presentations.
Some parts are funnier than others, yes, but they have a purpose: entertain and keep things from being dull (E3 2013 style!).
Having conferences instead of a bunch of trailers released online is the same difference between listening to a CD at home and on a music hall: it just WAY better!
Big live conferences have people cheering, laughing, applauding; it's more exciting than just sitting alone and watching the trailer.
Also, ever noticed how the scripts are written? It's filled with carefully picked words and whatnot. That's marketing, too.
Everything about a live conference is to make things bigger, better. And that's way studios spend a lot of money on them instead of throwing trailers to youtube.
My problem with E3 2015 is related to the lack of announcements for Wii U.
I kinda enjoyed the puppet show. E3 2014 was a lot better, though!
I don't think it's just my opinion.
If you take a look at SW sales for PS4, you'll that the first exclusive announced at the reveal conference sits at... try to guess it... 40th place: Killzone SF.
I'm obviously excluding 3rd parties as they were also released for XB1.

DélioPT said: Saw this at GoNintendo: (quoted from Pokken press release) "On Tuesday, June 13, the show starts right after the Nintendo Spotlight: E3 2017 presentation about 9:30 a.m. PT." If the presentation really lasts around 30 minutes, this will be Nintendo's shortest E3 presentation - at least from what i can remember. I don't know about you, but 30 minutes seems short to me. |
If they cut the filler with the developer stories they've done in the past, they could potentially cover the same amount of info they did in like 2014. They said this E3 is about 2017, so it might not have to many announcements.

Which E3 presentation you liked the most - talking about the whole package? E3 2013 or E3 2014?
Because what you seem to be ok with is them going the E3 2013 route.
Personally, i don't think it will be good for Nintendo. But that's just me.
In terms of game announcements, Nintendo has, imo, made it clear that there won't be many announcements. Otherwise the focus wouldn't be on 2017.
Sadly, with the recent news, it seems that things would be as i feared.
