Ah I see! That does make sense.

I only emphatically emphasize this is because it promotes a misconception of the demandingness of a feature. Download play is certainly less demanding than splitscreen. And yeah, they could theoretically coexist. But the reason they probably didn't bother is because download play is just patently less efficient. With splitscreen a posibility on the Switch out of the dock, you can play local multiplayer with one system. And if you have two systems, you can still use the split screen function only now with two full controllers in the form of two pairs of joy cons rather than with one joy con a piece. |
I guess I'd rather think the Switch can't do download play optimally enough for technical reasons, but if you really want us believe that Nintendo was just too lazy to implement it then alright, that does make sense too!

I don't know if it was laziness or just a calculated allocation of resources.
Seems they maybe nearing that point.

Something's definitely coming, that's for sure. It's really a matter of when. May has always been traditionally the biggest month for Pokemon News, but I could still see Nintendo wanting Game Freak to hold off until E3 this time around.
And I mean the fact that those links are being redirected to the official Pokemon website is definitely no coincidence.

I wouldn't get my hopes up. At this point, I guess the game's existence is pretty much confirmed, but there is still a chance it won't be for the Switch - remember, Nintendo already confirmed they'll be talking 3DS at E3, so this could be their "big" announcement for the system.
Then again, we haven't had a "third version" for two generations of Pokémon, so maybe it's safe to believe they wouldn't make one without good reason. |
The only thing is, Nintendo is only shipping 6 million 3DS's this fisical year. Seems kinda low if there is another Pokemon game on the way for it.

What says otherwise are the job listings that Gamefreak had for a new project which required people with experience in Vita to Console level development.
Pokemon on Switch this early, the thought of is still so unreal! I do wish the first home console Pokemon game was also the start of a new generation, woulda been way more epic that way, but I ain't complaining!
Pokemon Stars will most likely be released for both 3DS and Switch.

Having mainline HD 3D Zelda, Mario and Pokemon games all on one device within 9 months is certainly crazy to think of indeed if that becomes the case!
