But for how long? :S

It will be at least 1 hour but the duration is not set in stone. UItrashroomz said that he would try to play even longer than that (2 hrs, possibly) so basically if you still see him in game, the event is still going.

I'm honestly expecting 2 Metroids at this point for next year. It's been years since last Metroid and one used to be indevelopment by Next Level but was scrapped for Luigi's Mansion 2 instead. Also, Nintendo said they want to take care of both 2D & 3D. It's Metroid's 30th annie next year after all as well.
