My Splatoon goal for today is to finish the campaign and get all the scrolls. Unfortunately, I don't think I can make it to the group test though.

If you look at how he says it, it does feel like he's talking about the first months and not something up until May.

You mean like last year?  At the time of the Digital Event, everything shown was at least planned for 2014 and early 2015.  Delays bumped release dates around, but at the time that was the schedule.  This is hardly cause for panic.

If go and look at how they hyped their DE you'll see that there is a HUGE difference.
Last year was "this is the one you have been waiting for". The result? Pretty much every new game coming out in 2015 was announced (Zelda delay being the exception).
They announced during the DE and after, something like 8-10 games.

This year they said they are focusing on games coming out this year and early 2016.
Iwata already mentioned that there were games unannounced for the fiscal year. Which means, games for the last quarter.

The difference is, in my opinion, not to cause panic, but to fear with good reason, that 2016 is not going to be a good year for Wii U.
In other words, if they had several games coming out in 2016, why not show it like last year? And that's the problem.

Last year was announced for 2014 and beyond, never mentioned early 2015. That's why there was a lot of excitement.
