Forums - Nintendo - NX won't be revealed at E3 2015, according to Nintendo

And it won't be at E3 2016 too probably.

It is not a replacement it's a successor to most likely the 3DS and it's just not the time for it to be shown

Interesting. So what exactly is the difference then between a replacement and a successor? Isn't the newest console always a successor? When is a console ever 'replaced?'

Take the DS:

DS => replaced by DSLite => replaced by DSi. The actual successor was the 3DS, which has been replaced by the New3DS.

I see. So Iwata is basically confirming that NX is not a continuation of the 3DS or Wii U line then.

I thought they already said this

From Gamespot.

Nintendo will not reveal any new information or show NX, its next gaming console, at E3 2015.

Company chief executive Satoru Iwata was asked specific details on the console during a recent meeting with investors, but replied by reiterating that Nintendo does not plan to fully reveal NX until 2016.

"We do not plan on talking specifics about the NX until 2016," he said, as translated by Kotaku.

Iwata would not provide any additional details or a release window for the NX, only repeating that it is "calling it a 'new concept' ... not thinking of [it] as a 'simple replacement' for the 3DS or the Wii U."

Smart phone titles and quality of life experiences would also not be represented at E3.

"Since we understand that E3 is an event for dedicated video game machines, we do not intend to discuss the smart devices as well as quality of life," said Iwata.

During the presentation Iwata once again addressed why the NX had been announced before Nintendo was ready to fully reveal it, saying the company wanted to affirm its commitment to home gaming, following the announcement of its partnership with DeNA and plans to develop mobile games.

The sentiment echoes previous statements Iwata made during the initial NX announcement to the same effect: "As proof that Nintendo maintains strong enthusiasm for the dedicated game system business, let me confirm that Nintendo is currently developing a dedicated game platform with a brand-new concept under the development codename 'NX'."

"It is too early to elaborate on the details of this project, but we hope to share more information with you next year."

As part of its recent earnings report, the Japanese game giant also updated its launch schedule for upcoming Wii U games. Interestingly, The Legend of Zelda for Wii U (working title) is now listed as "TBD." The game, previously expected to launch by the end of 2015, was delayed back in March as a result of Nintendo discovering "several new possibilities" for the project.

This is the same thing when we heard an interview asking about a 3DS XL release.  Nintendo stated they have no plans of releasing an XL version.  What happened?  Literally a week later, seven days, Nintendo officially announced the 3DSXL.  They won't say they're releasing something new until they want it to be heard as it effects potential sales.

If Nintendo wants to affirm its commitment to home gaming then they should really do something more for the Wii U rather than announcing a new console.  That being said, Nintendo better give some serious love to the Wii U this E3 then.

This looks like Fusion. I guess they will announce early next year with a demo at E3 and launch at holiday season.

Yep, it's something new.

The real question is what it is all about. Is it about handheld? Home console? Both (with the Fusion)? Time will tell.

They said they wouldn't talk about NX until 2016 so it isn't surprising

Not surprised at all, was expecting this, in fact.

Though I thought they would show 1 mobile game or talk a bit about mobile at e3

What if it is announced AND released E3 2016?!?!?!?!?! *mindplosion

Honestly, 1 E3 before a new launch is more than sufficient.  It seems (for nintendo at least) as more time passes and details emerge, ppl get let down/disappointed and lose interest.  If U launched in 2011, I think it would have had more success and fans/critics would have been more forgiving all around.

Just for hype alone, NX should launch the same year as its E3 showing (whether its right after or that holiday).

So let's recap:
Things Nintendo won't talk about at E3: NX, Zelda, Mobile games, QoL.
