Now I know what I'm going to do next weekend :)
The Gothic series is still by far the best open world RPG that ever existed and probably will be for a long time. Too bad not enough people know that.

Dont forget to mention that the Gothic series died after 2.  (but kinda lives on as Risen)

Gothic 3 is crap as is Arcania.

Love Gothic 2. One of my favorite PC games

Amen to that, they just don't make them as they used to. Hopefully, PB will get back to their A game and give us another one now that they have the rights to IP again.

Anyway, it's been a while since I've played Gothic 2, I'll have to check this out as soon as I find some time.

Arcania was bad, but Gothic 3 crap? Really mate? Apart from some terrible bugs, I find it really good, not as good as Gothic 2, but nevertheless I played it twice in the row when it released.

Yes. (some is funny xD )
This game is the reason why I stopped buying games full price (unless they are Zelda or Mario Kart or whatever)
So many things are broken.

Shitty fighting+animations. If you are running away from a boar or whatever and are on a hill or on stairs etc and you are 1mm higher than your enemy you cannot hit it because your attacks hit the air above the things head.....   ( #1 reason for me dying in Gothic 3 lol)

You could see the sun while being underground/in caves.

I once hit a campfire while walking backwards and then I started to fly into space lol.

The whole thing was a mess. And Forsaken Gods didnt really help.

Think about EA being greedy idiots that dont care about their baby.
and Bioware as the Gothic franchise.

Anyway is there more games that got a DX11 treatment?
Would like to player better looking versions of stuff like:

Freelancer
or
Empires Dawn of the Modern World (12 year old game and 80.000 unit limit!)

Yeah, it had some terrible bugs, I think they've chewed off more than they could swallow (G3 is after all much, much bigger than G2) and JoWood was not really a good match as publisher for them.

As good as they are at making RPGs, PB are obviously not so good in finding decent publisher who will invest in them and give them enough resources to push their games into AAA territory - which is kinda sad, considering how much Gothic influenced WRPGs.

But as I said, despite all the bugs (and I've encountered some quest breaking ones in my first playthrough), I've enjoyed it immensely and played it twice in the row.

And yeah, those boars are nasty little buggers, I was kinda bummed they've nerfed them so much in Risen.
