What would I do to improve it? I don't understand the question.
Did you mean to ask what Nintendo should do to improve it? What would make nice additions?
To be honest I did not buy a wii for on-line play I have had some fun games of BWii on line but the service works fine as it is for that. I would like to see downloadable content at some point.
No more friend codes, change to gamer tags like MS uses.
Keep the address book, but allow for more than just 64 people--allow at least 200.
Allow voice chat and keyboard-based text chat.
Put onling play in way more games.
Make bigger, stronger servers.
Create a demo channel to download and play demos up upcoming games.
Add more downloadable content to games, such as, new characters for Smash Bros or something like that.
Add at least one new Wii Ware game a week, and 3-5 new Virtual Console titles per week.
Add a VC channel covering Atari2600/5200/7800 together for 200~400 points.
Add a VC channel covering Atari Jaguar for 500~700 points.
Add a VC channel for classic Game Boy titles for 400~500 points (complete with the option to "colorize" the games, or play in black and white).
Add a VC channel for Atari Lynx games for 500 points.
Add a VC channel for Sega 32X and CD games for 700 points.
Add a VC channel for Sega Saturn for 800~900 points.
Add a VC channel for 3DO games for 800 points.
DISCOUNT ALL VC TITLES BY 100~200 POINTS AFTER THEY'VE BEEN OUT FOR A YEAR, DISCOUNT BY 200~400 POINTS AFTER THEY'VE BEEN OUT FOR 2 OR 3 YEARS, DISCOUNT BY 300~600 POINTS FOR GAMES THAT HAVE BEEN OUT FOR 3, 4, OR MORE YEARS. By 2010, the original Donkey Kong arcade game for the NES shouldn't cost more than 100 or 200 points.
Add a DS demo download channel.
Create a COMPETITION CHANNEL that gives games challenges in certain games for gamers to compete against one another where winners receive Wii Points and software downloads. Like the Mii channel where everybody participates and competes, but not so gay. Something like, "defeat more than 15 opponents in Cruel Brawl in SSBB" where the highest scorers receive Wii points or free software downloads. These challenges should extend to VC and Wii Ware games (with necessary system upgrades to allow for it) where gamers are challenged with other things like, "fastest time to complete all of World 1 in Super Mario Bros 2/Lost Levels" and stuff like that.
Update the Wii to work seamlessly with a harddrive.
A new channel dedicated to online records and leaderboards for every game made to work with it viewable by anyone with up to 250 names per category/list.
More software/firmware updates.
And for the Wii in general, allow a customizable channels menu where we can put a desktop picture or pattern in the background and modify the channels so we can have channels appear in grids of 2 x 2, 4 x 4, 6 x 6, 8 x 8 or 10 x 10 for gamers with better eyesight or larger TV's, and those of us who enjoy customization.
Also, the channels menu should be automatically expandable and downloaded games should be playable direct from any external memory source (USB thumb drive, SD card, USB harddrive, etc).
These latter two aren't exactly online-specific, but they are important to continued use and expansion of the channels menu.
Finally, update the goddamn Wii clock.
Online Lobbys for all online games, i dont care if you can talk or see names of people in this lobbys, but if you can host your own games against anyone and they can see the rules you have selected and joined your game you know your getting hte best experience, Nintendos online sees to have limeted options when only playing random people in every game they have made.
