Saying you don't have anything to show, could also just be like him saying that they have very little to show, as in a tiny portion of the game could be shown. That tweet could just be him playing down on the thing and then they have something and it's a huge surprise to people like yourself.
This game will no doubt be a March 2016 release, mark my words! |
Try explaining this then.
PS3: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - 2007
PS3: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - 2009
PS3: Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - 2011
PS4: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - Spring 2016 (4½ years development) But was originally slated for fall 2015. (4 years development)
I am sorry to burst you bobble, but God of War isn't going to be at E3 and it sure as hell won't release March 2016.

thanks for that. but its more of speculation rather than rumor, and unless something happens that says other wise, its pretty safe to go with the cory barlog tweet and say it wont be at E3 this year.

No offense but you're completely letting your obvious love for GOW, cloud your judgement, GOW4 is not a March 16 title, we can at very best and even that is something I'd rather bet against, hope for a holiday 16 release. And I'm going to repost this tweet until people understand it: |
Not really, I mean yes I absolutely love the franchise, if there was anything that pointed to a later release being likely then hey I'd agree, but I've not seen anything to suggest that.
Even if GOW isn't shown at E3 that doesn't mean it's not a March 2016 release, simply because it can be shown at either Gamescom, PSX or even the VGAs.
It's a well established franchise, even moreso than Uncharted, it can be shown meer months from release and it wouldn't need much marketing to sell a lot. There's not been anything to suggest that this absolutely cannot happen with the next game.
Sony were happy to announce LBP3 at E3 last year and then release it in November the same year.
As I said this tweet from Barlog can easily be him Joking around and then he just shows off stuff at E3 as a surprise to people like you that didn't think it could happen.

I admire your optimism.

Nah I'll be fine, I think it's going to happen, it all lines up, but whatever.
As for the dates Guerrilla's title is actually more like 5 years in the making: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/guerrilla-games-talks-rocky-starts-confirms-new-ip/1100-6273818/
Technically the cats already out of the bag about God of War, GOW is also an established IP, so it wouldn't take as long as any new projects to flesh out and make a full game out of. No past GOW has taken over 3 years to come out from the previous release.

So didn't Uncharted. What is your point?

That's Uncharted, not God of War, plus Uncharted 4 had all of the issues with Amy Hennig and the game having to be essentially restarted.
All of Santa Monica's issues were related to the other IP, Barlog's project hasn't had anything like that reported about it. By August this year the next God of War is probably a good 2 years in the making, assuming that Barlog and co didn't start working on it until he returned in August 2013.
Reality is none of us really knows, you can believe that it's not going to happen, I think it will.
I've seen umpteen people that have made comments saying that they think it won't happen, you're not telling me anything I haven't read from many others before buddy. Imagine how shocked you'll be when we see a teaser for the game at E3, with the words "coming early 2016" at the end of the trailer. ;)

I can give you something that points to a later release: It's on the PS4, as has been shown time and time again by now development cycles at least for first games on the new hardware are getting longer this gen, so expecting the game next spring is just unrealistic (even more so since they already have 2 huge franchises planned for spring: UC4 and SFV).
In fact I'd even call it dumb of Sony to throw that game into the spring mix as well, even if it's for some reason ready at that point.

When Amy Henning was attached to Uncharted 4 the game wsa slated for fall 2015, so 4 years. And no, in no way was the game restarted, what are you talking about?
Don't get me wrong, I would love such an announcement, but I don't see how you can believe it will happen ..
