Forums - Sony - Sony should capitalize on the Silent Hills situation. Sorry.

I think that they might be able to capitalize on the situation by purchasing the Silent Hill IP away from Konami. I doubt that it would cost that much, with the games being very poorly made and received last-gen, and the movie franchise non-existent after the 2006 debut.

Sony could be able to turn SH's fortunes around by bringing back the Silent Hills crew aboard to continue work on the game, and by producing a couple of quality movies.
The question really is: Are they even interested?

To be honest, why even bother with Silent Hills IP? it is hardly relevent anymore and by making a new and fresh IP, Kojima would be given the creative freedom he needs.

Sony could easily taken him under his wing, let him create his own studio and hiring his old team, while getting outside help from one of Sony's studios if he ever needed it. They sold SOE since they didn't make a good enoug impact on the Ps4, i am sure they could use another developer with a good impact on the Ps4 to raise sales. Since they are giving naughty dog 100% freedom, i am sure kojima already know that and will take it into consideration. it's a hell of a lot better chance then creating his own studio and struggle with fundings. He better not go with EA, Activision and Ubisoft, cause there he will not get any freedom at all. I am even sure microsoft will try to get him, cause they want better sales in Japan and with the PS crowd as well. there is a good amount of PS gamer's who was mainly influenced to buy a PS platform for Kojimas games alone. ( ofc they are interested in other games as well, but we all got that one game that can sell us a console alone )

Sony Bend's new IP has been rumored to potentially be an open world Horror Game, that looks gorgeous visually.
Maybe it will have a similar styling too it.

Although it was only stated that it would make you panic, which could be any kind of experience, maybe P.T style horror, maybe action gameplay, interspersed with that kind of creepy gameplay.

I definitely think that if Kojima isn't going independent, taking resources with him from Konami or starting his own independent studio or anything like that Sony should hire him and create a studio around that man!
Not just as a part of an existing studio, but literally give him the resources needed to make the best of his talents and not pigeon hole him into one kind of game for generation after generation.

According to a fairly reliable youtuber once MG5 is released Konami may sack hundreds of people from Kojima's studio.
With Sony's recent profits of over $2B and things vastly improving on the gaming front and overall they could easily afford to pay for a studio like that and would have a ready made studio to go.

IMO Sony would be the best fit for Kojima, would give him great freedom to make the games he wants.
SCE Kojima sounds great too me!

I think Kojima will open his own studio, and try to hire people that have worked with him in the past (or maybe current people on Konami that might go away with all this sh#tstorm). If someone tries to bring this team to their console, they would be either Sony (most of the Kojima fanbase is on PS) or Nintendo (Nintendo needs to bring back the mature audience to their consoles, so they might be willing to fund anything Kojima might wanna do).

Though I know making his own studio is what is going to happen, I fear Kojima developing a game while trying to juggle the actual profits vs budget.

That's the thing. Either Sony uses its money to make a new and hyped Kojima IP and selling another gazillion PS4s (that they would have sold anyway, in my opinion), or Nintendo tries to get Kojima soon for their next system and let him create a couple of new IPs (I don't know if Nintendo would spend the money Kojima might need on the WiiU, instead on a new launch title for the NX). If Konami gets angry at Nintendo and decides not to publish their games on Nintendo consoles, nothing really changes because they really don't support those that much in the first place XD.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Isn't the game cancelled because Kojima owns the engine? If so the game would have to be redone from scratch.

I was going to say SCE Kojima Japan Studio, but I thought it was a bit of a mouthful. ;)

yeah, just throw money a it...

terrible idea.

take on the massive expense of kojima and a team just for that?

Not to mention they could be pissing Konami off (you know, the people who own Silent Hill as well as other great franchises).

Their franchises (what little they still produce) haven't been doing well for quite some time now. Who cares if anyone pisses them.

They're already digging their grave.

I can see Sony hiring him to make a new syphon filter. The game fits in perfectly with the mgs genre.

However, I also see Sony asking Kojima to head a team in studio Japan. I can see great mecha games being made along with a reboot of Genji and new ip's
