Forums - Sony - Sony should capitalize on the Silent Hills situation. Sorry.

Silent Hills demo P.T. is regarded as one of the best gaming experiences last year, but unfortunately, as we all know, the game is now cancelled. But should this really be the end of it? I say heck no!

I say, take everything good about the demo and turn it into a full game - that is not Silent Hills (Much like Demon's Souls and Dark Souls). And what better way to do it, than hire Kojima. Give him his own team within Studio Japan and let them make a new IP based on the look and feel of the P.T. demo.

yeah, just throw money a it...

terrible idea.

take on the massive expense of kojima and a team just for that?

Not to mention they could be pissing Konami off (you know, the people who own Silent Hill as well as other great franchises).

Well you know, Shu always said, that one of his greatest mistakes last generation was not seeing the potential in the Soul's series. Who is not to say this won't be the same thing?

By the looks of it, Konami is exiting consol gaming.

I think Kojima will open his own studio, and try to hire people that have worked with him in the past (or maybe current people on Konami that might go away with all this sh#tstorm). If someone tries to bring this team to their console, they would be either Sony (most of the Kojima fanbase is on PS) or Nintendo (Nintendo needs to bring back the mature audience to their consoles, so they might be willing to fund anything Kojima might wanna do).

You know it deserves the GOTY.

The best they could do is to hire Kojima and just let him do what he wants. Creative people need freedom. However, it remains to be seen what Kojima will do at the end of this year. He could go to Sony. But he may also just build his own Studio, like Keiji Inafune did. Or he may retire altogether.

Let's wait for next year. For the moment, Kojima is still at Konami, so everything else is purely speculation. Personally, I would love to see a horror game by Kojima though. P.T. got me really hyped.

Though I know making his own studio is what is going to happen, I fear Kojima developing a game while trying to juggle the actual profits vs budget.

They already hiring for the next MGS, they are not exiting console gaming.

Why? He is Kojima. One of gamings greatest minds and creators.

When an absolute A-tier (legendary) developer becomes available, why wouldn't Sony want him on their "side", in one of their studios, making games exclusively to their platform.

I think that they might be able to capitalize on the situation by purchasing the Silent Hill IP away from Konami. I doubt that it would cost that much, with the games being very poorly made and received last-gen, and the movie franchise non-existent after the 2006 debut.

Sony could be able to turn SH's fortunes around by bringing back the Silent Hills crew aboard to continue work on the game, and by producing a couple of quality movies.
The question really is: Are they even interested?

Well f* me, then ;)

Anyway, they can't really "afford" to hold a grudge, Sony is the absolute leader this generation. So unless they really hate money, what can they do?
