Forums - Movies & TV - World of Warcraft Movie Delayed

Welcome to the Realm of Video Games

If you were looking forward to the new World of Warcraft movie unfortunately it has been delayed through an announement on twitter.  Fortunately it is only by 3 months and will be released in June of 2016.    The original release was planned for December of 2015 but got pushed back to March 2016 due to Star Wars VII, and now delayed again for unknown reasons.  It remains to be unknown if it looks good or not, but the massively popular MMO will surely bring in a crowd.  Are you excited to see the movie?  Or do you think it will be another blunder for game movies?

I'm really excited to see it. In my opinion the Warcraft World has great storys to tell

I don't care about the delay, they should just make it awesome :)

December to June is 3 months; I never knew that!

OT: I've heard murmurs of WoW movies for years and years but most of the news concerns delays or projects being abandoned.

He meant that it was originally scheduled to release in December, got delayed to March because of Star Wars, and is now delayed to June for unknown reasons.

Erm the film is already in Post-Production. So I dunno where you read your news...

All over the web since rumors surfaced for the first time in early 2006; this has been a big subject for a long time and I don't know you could have missed that. Same with Halo movie, where Peter Jackson was supposed to have at it, and later Guillermo Del Toro, both scrapped the idea. Endless rumors and negotiations on an Uncharted film have also been circulating for years, we all remember when Nathan Fillion suggested himself for the lead role.

These projects come up all the time, and are often scrapped since movies based on video games are notoriously hard to do and often require large budgets as well.

Did I say the movie is not in post-production? Did I mention that it was the same production at all? No, I didn't; several WoW concepts and suggestions have been scrapped through the years and there has also been a back-and forth discussion whether to base the script on Warcraft (the older games) or more directly on the specifics of WoW, the original was actually announced in 2006, that is about a decade ago.

Quite frankly, if you missed this decade long speculation and discussion, I'm curious as to where you read your news as well.

I am actually looking forward to this movie. It could be amazing if they do it right.
