If they were given away games would probably cost more and the subscriptions would be mandatory and the systems would be door stops without it.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

Phones get away with subsidized pricing via plans because phones are largely worthless without service. Video game consoles can work fine without any service so why would any pay for it? I think there is a very clear reason why no one has tried this.

Someone could make a very cheap console.

Miyamoto for example wanted the original Wii to be $99.99.

Oh and there would be contractual obligations, likely two or three years, similar to phones with brutal buyouts.

This is an unsustainable business model with how consoles currently function. I proposed a similar arrangement to my dealer once on the basis that this would earn my loyalty to him but he refused, and rightfully so.

Nah.

Most of your points apply to Playstation Now and other streaming services , no initial hardware purchase necessary as will run on tv's, tablets, phones.... allowing them to reach a MASSIVE audience.

Once PSNOW is supported on mobile/tablets billions of devices will now have access to playstation games at no additional cost.

I'm 12 and league of Legends is free so why do I have to pay for other games? Also paid games are far too short. In call of duty It only takes 100 hours to unlock the weapon I want. If it was free you could play for 5000 hours before you get the good weapon and have more fun like that. Clash of clans is a better game than cod because you play for much longer because everything takes so long to build. Every console and game should be free so I can play forever without getting a job.
