Brief intro, I LOVE fighting games and always have. I have played most (usually poorly) since Street Fighter II on SNES. Though I keep buying them, I usually get frustrated if I dont seem to be 'getting' it.

Some info to help see what kind of player I am maybe...

The only fighting game I really excel at is Tekken, thats not to say im a world beater and could go win championships and stuff :P but I can hold my own, even against the very best players. I have always mained King, others I got decent with include Lili, Nina, Kazuya and a couple of others, but never mastered them to anywhere near the extent I have King. Then im a decent Soul Calibur player, originally I used Ivy but in the more recent games she seemed off and switched to Astaroth, who again I could hold my own with. dead or Alive I was ok at, and mained Bass a dabbled with Tina and Ayane.

When it comes to 2D fighters I struggle, im not very good at Street Fighter, BlazBlue, MvC, MK and a whole host of others I have tried. But I really want to give MKX a shot, I love MK games so want to get into it.

Any tips or advice are most welcome, I want to main Mileena as she has always been one of my favorite characters - but thats not set in stone if a different character is more suited to my play style. Now from the pattern above, my play style seems suited to the more slow heavy hitting characters who rely on throws. So is Mileena a mistake for me? doi any characters fill that role in MKX?

If i stick with Mileena, whats her best fighting style? and where can I learn combo's and juggles? I have been playing around in the training room with her, but havent been able to discover any for myself :(

DITE: one thing I forgot, I really struggle with a block button (would probably be alot better at DoA if not for that) anyone have any tips on how I can train my brain to press a button to block? >.<

I suggest you start with Sub Zero. Hes pretty easy to learn and it will help you adjust to the game. Mileena is a fast agile fighter so I dont think she'll be good for you. For heavy hiting grapplers you should go with Kotal Khan, Kano, or Ferra/Torr. And for finding combos just keep practicing. You'll find them

Tried out some of those characters.

Didnt take to Ferra/Tor, didnt like how alot of his moves seem to involve tossing Ferra and you have to wait for her to return to do another move involving her.

Sub is just not for me, to many people already play him and im not a fan.

Jax seems pretty good, I might give him a go.

But I did try Kotal Kahn, and im really taking to him. I remember using him in the story and thought he was awful, but having had a play in training with him, and actually learning what his special moves are and do, he's really grown on me :D

Another question, how do you do Faction finishers and Brutalities? am I missing something basic? as can see the button combination to do them, but I just cant get them to work, whats the catch? it must be something pretty simple im missing :/

To do faction finishers Hold the R2/RT button at the far side of the stage and press the directional pad twice. As for brutalities, theyre very strict in their requirements. Personally I think doing a brutality is a waste of time. You shouln't worry too much about them.

I haven't tried out Kotal Khan but he sounds like a blast to play with. I'll have to try him out also.
