i would consider Metroid Prime a generation defining game, as well as an all time great. heck it invented it's own genre.

I don't think so. Games like Metroid Prime and The Orange Box aren't games that will be remebered as all-time greats 5-10 years after their releases. I don't think people look at The Orange Box or Metriod Prime and say, "This is one of the greatest games I have played". Maybe at first you'll say because of hype and exitement. However, do think that right here and now Metriod Prime is a game that should be put into the same category as a game like Super Mario 64? I doubt most people think of Metroid Prime that way. Games like Resident Evil 4, Grand Theft Auto III, Halo, and KOTOR are the type of games I think are deserving of a 95% score. Just being an amazing triple A game isn't good enough to get that type score. Surely you don't think a game like Bioshock put into that category, do you?

Uh, The Orange Box is the best deal in videogame history. Portal alone is "genre defining." While I disagree that Metroid Prime invented its own genre like the previous poster suggests, attacking these games isn't going to get you far. And yes, Bioshock should be in that category. Have you even played these games?

Personally I think The Orange Box should be up there only for having Portal, which is cake. Bioshock I didn't think was genre defining, I played System Shock. Also Mario Galaxy topped SM64 in every single way. Thats an achievement and it certainly has redefined the 3D platformer.

This post has the most terrible grammar I have ever used while sober.

@windbane:

I'm not attacking anything, and I have played those games. I don't get how being the best *deal* warrants a 96% score. I also don't consider the game to be the best all-in-one package in gaming history. The Super Mario World/Super Mario All Stars combo is beats it easily. I don't don't see how you could put put Bioshock into the same category as Super Mario 64, Zelda 64, Resident Evil 4, ect. When you play Bioshock, do you feel like you're playing one of the greatest games in gaming history? If you don't, then you shouldn't compare it to those special games.

Fuck! That's 100%! That's going to boost the already high score up. Right now, Brawl has a perfectly realistic score. I hope it stays that way, because I do not want another Mario Galaxy, Orange Box, or Mertiod GameCube. Only all-time great games and generation-defining games should get ultra high scores.

So 95 percent is realistic to you?

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Just wondering...did you work on this game? like why is this important to you?

Yeah, I worked on it. Want an autograph?

Does anyone really go to X-Play for reviews? Or not buy games if they say they're dumb.

I mean, no one in Japan must give to shits, since they gave Monster Hunter Freedom 2 a 2/5, and that games done idk, 1.5 mi in JP? X-Play sucks.

Yep. The game is at 95.3%; not the score I would give it, but at least it's a real score.

Some of those reviews are pretty silly--especially when they sell the graphics short. The graphics are just about the best on the Wii with fantastic lighting, shadow, and particle effects--tons of detail and generally high poly counts. Blows the graphics of Melee away.

How could anyone say Subspace Emissary sucks? It's fun as fuck!

I got my copy last night. I wasn't the biggest fan of Melee, but my god! Usually, when I play a game, I say "This game would be better if they....". If I said that about Brawl, I'd be an idiot. This game is packed almost to the point of overflowing! Maybe Bioshock didn't deserve it's high marks. Maybe Metroid Prime didn't either. Maybe, just maybe, you could say The Orange Box (of course, you'd be wrong) but Super Smash Bros. Brawl? No way!!
