Forums - Nintendo - Wii vs Wii U, Nintendo-published retail titles first 2.5 years

Too many games to consider, but it feels like Wii did have more variety.
In terms of quality, Wii U might have better games.

Is it me or there's more published titles and less 1st and 2nd party games on Wii U than on Wii?

Wii has Twilight Princess while Wii U has Wind Waker, so I'm inclined to go with the Wii U.

Wii wins based on its first 16months lol

New Zelda (not a remaster), Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Mario Kart and Smash Bros >>>

Wii U has a better lineup in terms of quality.

Some of those Nintendo published Wii U titles are even't made by Nintendo first  or second party developers. All the Nintendo published Wii titles have been made by Nintendo first or second parties. On the other hand, the Wii had several titles that were originally GC titles that were delayed for the Wii's lineup. In the end, it made the Wii had a more diverse line up than Wii U's platformer driven line up.

Many of those Wii games were developed by 3rd parties as well, Punch-Out & Super Mario Strikers were by Next Level Games who were not yet a Nintendo 2nd party developer. Endless Ocean was developed by Arika, Super Mario Sluggers was developed by Namco.

Wii U has better "Mario Kart" and "Smash" games. We're still waiting to see whether "Zelda" and "Metroid" titles are better on the Wii U. If those two make it out before then next console launches, and they're superior to the last gen, then there is no question that the Wii U has the superior line-up - even if we never see a "fully 3D Mario" on the system.

EDIT: Also, if we get a third Platinum game to complete a trinity on the Wii U, that will go a long way towards making me feel completely satisfied with my console purchase.

Wow, I knew Wii line-up was superior, but not that much. What great console was the Wii, to bad the successor is such a dissapointment. Also, you are missing Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii.

I'm not missing it, it wasn't out until August 2009 so after the first 2.5 years

Lol no problem, if I remember I will update the list as we get more release dates for Wii U titles.
