THIS. thankfully, it isn't the best selling console title.

It's impressive for a near 2 year old game. Now here comes the 70's and 60's scores so it doesn't reach 99.

I assume your only basis for calling GTA5's scores 'inaccurate' is that you don't personally like it?

I personally like the franchise, but only for doing random destruction. I don't know what score the game should have had but I know it's much bellow 98. it's just a franchise that got lucky with marketing/controversy, wich makes people buy it because of a fad and not because of the actual game.

Having played every GTA my entire life and having known tens (if not hundreds) of others who have loved these games and it had nothing to do with it being a "fad" or controversey. I could care less about any of that. Most people could care less about any of that. That is all media. I never even liked driving around and causing chaos, maybe once in a while for kicks. But the games themselves were so top notch. Just pure fun the way games are meant to be. The story has always been a strong point, the acting, the witty humor and parody of real life throughout is just top notch.
Grand Theft Auto becomes incredibly boring when all you do is drive around and cause random destruction. That is fun for a few hours, maybe a few weeks with your friends, but it gets old and boring fast. At this point Grand Theft Auto has become SO much more than that. If THAT is what you do when you play GTAV, you are cheating yourself out of one of the most enjoyable games this generation.
You're entitled to not like the game for whatever reason... But it's a little odd you're putting the game down so much for reasons that are hardly even applicable to GTAV.

This seriously made my night!!!! It took me a second to realize what was going on, I was wondering who this arrogant A-hole was, coming in acting better than everyone. Then I saw it stamped on his forehead (;

Which means approximately nothing :p Seriously though (or at least as serious as i can be with metacritic user reviews), the majority of the complaints seem aimed at the download/install speed rather than the game itself. |
which is legimate complain

Nothing much to add. Reviews for Gta or some others games (well, a lot of others), are mostly a joke, Doritos style.
That's why Metacritics is useless.

I wouldn't personally give it a 97/98 either, but that's still just my opinion, not a basis to write off everyone that disagrees (which is evidently a lot of people). The same goes for you, especially when the game only fits with your tastes as far as "doing random destruction".
When you consider the staggering number of people that are completely in love with the series, coupled with it presenting arguably the more 'alive' open world to date, and it receiving very high scores (on every platform) makes sense. I don't need to agree with them to understand that.
GTA has been popular for far too long to be considered a fad though. It's definitely seen a popularity boost with GTA5 (which i'd credit to the long wait, expected growth, and 3 major release cycles keeping it relevant for longer), but that doesn't make it an inherent fad. Best to wait and see how GTA6, 7, etc, do before stating definitives like that.
