Forums - Gaming - Should VGChartz have a voting system?

No, it would too Positive about everything Nintendo for example. Polls often show that its 55% Nintendo, 40% Sony and 5% MS in this community.

No, it'll just end up becoming a fanboy pissing contest, pro-Nintendo comments get voted down by Sony/MS fans, pro Sony comments get voted down by Nintendo/MS fans, etc. End of the day nothing beats active moderation by fair moderators, which VGC does pretty well at.

I would "like" this comment if I could as it shows how a like/dislike system wouldn't work here.

This.

(I think that's 3 'likes' already!)

From what I've seen, I don't really agree with this. Moderation takes care of anything that's actively rule-breaking, but there are still issues of arrogance/fanboyism/baiting/other things that are supremely irritating but are either grey area or aren't actually against the rules.

Though that fanboyism would probably just feed into a whole lot of vote brigading, so I don't think it would really help matter. Basically we're all doomed to repeat the same cycle over and over on any forum which centres on video game discussion.

No, it will just discourage people to make new threads and doesn't really help this site

No, it would just get abused like these systems ALWAYS so and you'll get people wanting "likes" and then Facebook trying to sue for using the term "Like" (sorry, I had to say that. :D)

I'm leaving if this happens lol

A 'like' system would be pretty cool but dislikes are just asking for trouble.

Nope, not really. People tend to vote for stuff based on their opinion's, not on the quality of the posts. On one site I've seen two seperate voting systems: 'well argumented' and 'agree with the poster', both of which you could answer either yes or no, but on a site like this, I imagine it's a bit too much.

A "Like" option like other forums would be nice.
Though a "Dislike" option would just be asking for trouble.
