Forums - Gaming - PS Vita System software 3.50 allows 30% More Memory Size For games.

I noticed on my PSTV and my Vita that it doesn't have me signed in to PSN even though I am under the settings. I wonder if its just me or is it a bug that's effecting a lot of people?

Thanks @NesFe!

I also suspect that it was reserved for social apps like Near and such. I wonder how long Sony was planning this because I hope the upcoming games are already taking advantage of the extra free space.

Whhhhy don't they make ice cream anymore??? :(

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Good news, i hope we will see bigger games with it, maybe they did it for revelations 2

Wait does it mean that the games can be 30% larger in file size or they'll have access to 30% more ram from the system?

They free up some ram from the system... PS3 went from ~112MB to ~32MB in ram usage of the system... that happen with all consoles/portables.

And yes... more for games = better.

Um, can someone explain this to me, what was the issue before this update?

There wasn't 'an issue'. This just gives devs 30% more memory to use.

Oh okay, thanks.

There wasn't an issue per say but plenty of games have overly compressed assets on Vita. Normally video which isn't a big deal.

Edit: people are suggesting this is RAM not, game size. In which case more is always better and less restrictive, will be easier to port games.

Maybe this is what Square Enix were waiting for regarding Final Fantasy Agito+?

That's cool. It should help make development for the Vita a bit easier.

O.o Isnt it a bit late for that Sony? Hopefully means better games, but i dont get why they delayed such a significant feature.

NPSV? Sweet. Shame there's barely anyone left developing to take advantage. Some retrospective patches would be nice though.

I wonder how much it'll help in real terms. I remember unlocking the PSP CPU allowed for some massively improved frame rates (Outrun ran at 60fps solid unlocked vs a standard of about 30fps with the restriction.)

Maybe not in the west but devs are still giving quite a bit of support in Japan and sony continues to fund ports like Resident Evil Revelations 2, other titles this could be useful

Final Fantasy Agito,
Saga
Star Ocean
Dragon Quest Heroes 2
Gravity Rush 2 if its still coming
