Define downgrade... Every game, particularly ones with a 3-4 year development cycle, goes through huge changes from the time they're first shown to the time of release. It's fairly common. People shouldn't expect the footage from 2013 to be identical to the way the game looks in it's finished state.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

Hmm seems they must have done what other companies do and made a "fake in-game" trailer way back then.

Cause everytime a new video has come out of gameplay stuff they have been better than earlier videos. This is the only time we have seen an exeption. I thought Nintendo was above the "fake in-game" trailers

Unrelated to your post, but that screamapillar conversation with the EPA guy was so funny... I lost it at "sexually attracted to fire" :D

You're making that statement based on a comparison of less than one minute of a trailer to a similar less than one minute of a 29 minute presentation.  Nowhere else in the entirety of that presentation is there any evidence of a downgrade, many places it's the exact opposite.  Even within this brief clip the floor and armor textures look fine mere seconds after the opening clip. This could be and most likely is a texture loading issue, where the floor and armor took a second to pop in and in that one particular clip the floor failed to load in properly (I've seen this in MANY games first hand).  The issue doesn't repeat itself anywhere else in the entire presentation.

It shouldn't look identical but it shouldn't look notably worse, that is the definition of a downgrade. Its unfortunately common but a few devs like Sony Santimonica do the opposite.

I only see a change in the clothes and doll. any smaller difference in the scenario is expected after 2 years of development.

Note that I'm talking about changes, not downgrades. The quality is the same or higher.

Only you could say that this isn't a downgrade. This particular shot is like the difference between a ps2 and ps3 game.

Anyway, I don't think too many people will be that bothered, it'll still be a great game.

Looks to me like a bit of a downgrade with characters, but there has been a general upgrade for the landscape, draw distance and blending of environments. I'm not to worried about it with the scope and size of the game.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

The downgrade is massive. Such a pity it was all bullshots It's not like this downgrade changes my decision to buy the game, but damn, the first version looked so much better!

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Lol, back when Ubisoft did this in Watchdogs, everyone went insane. Of course, that was on a bigger scale.

The floor looks considerably worse, the character model changed (I liked the 2013 one better), the weapon looks very pixelated, and lighting effects changed. Nothing too bad, but it is noticeable.

"The floor looks considerably worse"

and then it doesn't.

"the character model changed"

Exactly, CHANGED, it wasn't downgraded. have you seen the number of outfits in this game?

"the weapon looks very pixelated"

No, it doesn't, and the 2013 video didn't show any weapon.

"and lighting effects changed"

Again, CHANGED, no downgrade. It actually has more light in the recent one, And you can see details that were in the shadows on the first video.
