Forums - Gaming - Why doesn't Xbox and Nintendo fans appreciate variety like PS gamers?

In general, Xbox gamers like shooters, and Nintendo gamers like Nintendo made games, which are mostly kids games. But why? It seems when different types of games come along, they sell fair to poor.

Now I'm not saying all Xbox and Nintendo gamers, but most. Here are examples: Forza sells ok on Xbox, but one Gran Turismo game has sold almost as much as 5 Forza games. Alan Wake was something different and exclusive to 360, but didn't fare that well. Dragon Ball Xenoverse is a very recent example of how variety does not do well on Xbox compared to Playstation. I imagine 70% of Final Fantasy Type 0 will sell on Playstation. But when the next Gears of War comes out, bam! It will fly off shelves!

Now onto Nintendo fans. The next Xenoblade will probably sell far less than any game with the name Mario, even through it's a breathtaking game that I feel deserves to outsell Mario due to massive scope and breathtaking graphics alone. There are hundreds of Mario games. C'mon! Bayonetta 2 crashed and failed even though it was specially made for Wii U. The early 3rd party games were mostly ignored and killed off 3rd party support. I hate Bayonetta personally, but my point is that Nintendo fans don't want variety,  they mostly want Nintendo made games like Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, etc.

Now on Playstation, variety is welcome. Examples are: Uncharted, God of War, Call of Duty, Dragon Ball, Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo, Little Big Planet, Street Fighter, Infamous, Resident Evil, Wipeout, The Last of us, Battlefield, and Flower. That is huge variety that sells well on Playstation.

My question is why?

Simply, there is no big difference.
Most PS gamers are not much different from the the Xbox dudebros.
Only the gamers who care for variety or are interested in some 'not really mainstream stuff' will play your Bloodbourne however well it sells, same for the Wii U where Bayonetta 2 did ok and the same counts for Xbox.

I can't even...

I'm an Xbox fan and a Nintendo fan more so then PS and I play RPGs (Western, Japanese), puzzle, platform, open world, racing (kart), hack and slash, narrative, 3D fighting, third person shooter, puzzle etc.

Probably the most ridiculous rash generalization thread I've seen on this website.

Alot of different genres of games sell well on Xbox. I don't really see where that's coming from. Forza franchise does very well, dead rising, left 4 dead, gears of war, elder scrolls, mass effect, tomb raider, halo, even games like blue dragon, ori and the blind forest, and Kinect sports have done great.

Remember, I said not all Xbox and Nintendo gamers. Sales don't lie. Check the games.

This is why I like playstation. It has the best of both xbox and Nintendo. Great third party support with AAA games and small scale games like journey and puppeteer.

No thanks, we are tired of seeing threads that generalise fanbases.
