Forums - Gaming - Can anyone provide Headset recommendations based on loudness of volume?

Hey everbody, hope you are having a good Friday!

I was hoping people could give me some recommendations.  I have been wanting to get a headset of some sort gaming or not, and have bought and returned several.  After 15+ years of car stereos, live heavy metal, and shooting guns without earplugs uncountable times (really bad idea buy the way especiialy in hindsight) I have somewhat damaged hearing.

I am looking for something that is loud enough for me and has a good spectrum of volume so I do not have to turn it up all the way at all times and risk it getting distorted and pushing mids so hard it could further damage my hearing.  I would prefer surround sound and wireless but am open to anything as volume spectrum is a priority.  I do use chat but not all that often.  Usually only when an MP game comes out that I get addicted to which is rare.  Cost does not really matter.  Here is what I have tried so far:

Sony Gold PS4 headset.  Was not loud enough and did not register bass well enough for my jacked up hearing.  Also a bit uncomfortable.

Turtle Beach 500 stealth.  Surround sound, build, and bass were great but I had to run volume at max all the time and on many games that didn't have music, it was not loud enough and on other games it became distorted at max and had no sweet spot for me.

Tritton Kunai.  THe build was way too cheap and it was QUIET.  In fairness it was cheap price also like 50 or 60 bucks or something.

Sony Pulse Elite:  These actually sounded pretty good to me and I didn't have to blast them at max all the time.  The build was one of the worst I have ever seen and they broke way too fast for 150 bucks.

Things I would use these on would be primarily PS4, PS3.  But also occasionally X1, 360, Vita, PC.  I mostly play PS3 and 4 out of all though.

Do you guys have any suggestions for headsets that are Loud?  (or even better louder than other ones you have tried)  I have been highly recommended Astro AS50, Polk 4 shot, and Kingston HyperX Cloud 2.  Anyone use those?  Thanks in advance for any tips.

Dang no one? I would even take wired and non-gaming loud recommended styles if anyone has any of those?  Do any of you own ones that you also have to keep cranked up to max volume at all times, so I know some to avoid?

I use the Sony Playstation Pulse Elite headset for all my needs and it hasn't let me down.

I think for the price I paid (100$) it's a very good price/quality ratio. The way it is set, my PC is the hub for every pieces of hardware I have. So I can adjust the volume from there, and then on the headset itself. It's not necessarily the loudest, but when I have it on, I don't hear ambient sounds at all, so that's more that enough for me. There's also a discreet microphone on it, making it viable for online gaming sessions.

I don't know how come you've had issue with the build quality. Mine hasn't cracked yet, and I doubt it will any time soon. It's still in pristine condition even after all this time. When I got the headset, I wanted good sound quality at a good price, and a set that would allow me to use it with any pieces of hardware I have, or will get in the future. After looking at reviews, it became obvious to me that this headset was a no-brainer.

Take a look at the Bose range: http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/shop_online/headphones/index.jsp

Great clarity and easy to discern sounds at lower volumes which might be what you're looking for. If you opt for an active noise canceling pair you'll also have much less need for masking and be able to hear well at even lower volumes.

Hm, wireless headsets are usually limited by the manufacturer. And the maximum loundness is limited by law in some countries, but I'm not sure about the USA.

You don't have that problem with headphones with a 3.5mm jack because their loudness depends on the comination of the output power of the audio source and the sensitivity of the headphone.

Their sensitivity is usually on the package in dB SPL/mW.
High sensitivity headphones can get louder. I only use in-ear monitors, but I can say that the ones with over 120 dB can get very loud with my audio devices.

Or you can increase the output power with a headphone amp, but it would be weird to connect an amp to controllers like the DualShock 4...

i use the Pulse Elite by Sony, they are the best.the only bad thing is build which cause it to break but they still work after applying tape on them.I have been using one for 2 years.it still works and gives 5 hours of wireless sound.

i had the original pulse ps3 headset also which were also amazing,i dropped them.but they were as good as pulse elite
