Suikoden III Launching Next Week On The Japanese PSN As A PlayStation 2 Classic

Suikoden III, the third entry of the role playing game series developed by Konami, is going to be released on the Japanese PSN soon as a PlayStation 2 Classic release.
It’s been confirmed today that the PlayStation 2 role playing game will become available for purchase in Japan on April 15th. A Western release has yet to be confirmed at the time.
Suikoden III has been released on PlayStation 2 in Japan back in July 2002, with the North American release launching a few months after. The game features a new system called Trinity Sight System which allows players to follow the adventures of three main characters, Hugo of the Karaya Clan, Chris Lightfellow from the merchant nation of Zexen and the mercenary Geddoe. Sub-chapters featuring other characters can also be unlocked during the course of the game
Gameplay wise, Suikoden III is not too different from previous entries of the series, with players having to explore towns and dungeons and fight countless enemies.. The game’s battle system comes with some new features, like the pair system, which make the game feel different from previous entries. Duel Battles and Strategy Battles also come back from previous games.
Suikoden III will be released next week on the Japanese PSN as a PlayStation 2 Classic release. We will let you know more about a possible Western release as soon as possible so stay tuned for all the latest news.

Oh man, my heart skipped a beat after seeing "Suikoden", I might get this and 4-5 if they ever release, though never finished these, couldn't get that feel I had with 1-2.

Question: Are all PS1+ PS2 titles that are on the PS Store playable on the Vita?

nah, Certain PS1 and PSP games are playable, would be neat if PS2 games were playable on the vita

nah, Certain PS1 and PSP games are playable, would be neat if PS2 games were playable on the vita


No PS2 at all? bummer . . . well at least there's sly cooper collection and ratchet and clank collection, heh those are some PS2 titles I guess and those other collections too.

Always wanted to give Suikoden III a go. My worry is that I might be a bit over-excited for it and it might end up like my OoT experience, a complete let down.

Without a doubt my favorite rpg. I have the ps2 game but man I wish this would work on my vita or ps4 for remoteplay.

So, Suikoden 3 is great. It does not play quite like the first two - IIRC you can have only four characters in your party at a time, and combat is slower. The area the game takes place isn't super interesting right from the start, and there's a village of duckmen. Also, the beginning has a sorta lame Rashomon style "see the same scene from three perspectives" situation. And some of the few returning characters look nothing like they used to.

BUT...keep playing. Explore what you can, kill the optional bosses, and I hope it grows on you as much as it did me. (It was the last Suiko game I enjoyed; 4 was awful, and the Tactics game just didn't grab me.) The manga is pretty good too, if you're interested!
