Forums - Nintendo - So, uh... What the hell happened to those Wii Retail/Download games?

Nintendo has always been slow in this department for some reason.

They did announce Pandoras Tower and Sin and Punishment are coming soon, and Japan is getting Last Story soon too.

I thought Capcom ran into major copyright issues with that game hence why it couldn't be published outside of Japan anymore.

...Please dear God, tell me you're joking.

What surprised me was that they announced Mario Galaxy 2, and not 1. Not sure what the reason fr that was.

Guess even Ninten thinks MG2 is the superior game of the 2, haha...

Wow... I'm legit crushed.

I'm really disappointed that they haven't brought more Wii games out digital for the Wi U as well. Maybe they're trying to integrate gamepad support for the next batch. Honestly, being able to play the "Prime" trilogy in bed, with dual analog sticks (over motion controls) would be excellent. I'm not holding my beath that it's anything that cool, however.

Nintendo has been really lazy - by appearance - as far as digital releases/VC are concerned. I have to think that they're terribly understaffed and are sittish about hiring more hands while they have a failing home console on their hands.

The thing is that there isn't much in the way of droughts on the Wii U eShop. Whenever there are somewhat interesting eShop titles releasing, it's pretty normal that Nintendo won't release any of their own games for Virtual Console.

GBA releases have been slow, but steady, since the strong launch month. DS has only really started last week, because Nintendo disregarded the free download of Brain Training that was made available last year. New Wii titles have been announced in last week's Direct, although maybe not for America.

Nobody should expect that Nintendo will release everything in quick succession. For one, they want to have some backups for droughts, and two, putting some space between releases helps to maximize sales of individual titles. Plus there's obviously some testing involved, because Virtual Console is not quite as simple as a ROM dump.

In NA at least, there's been nothing announced since the initial wave. Even if what you say is true, it still doesn't explain the lack of 3rd party support. It's not like they aren't supporting everything else VC wise. Capcom is still releasing games for the GBA VC. What makes Wii digital games different? I seriously expected a lot more over all by now. Even from Nintendo.

Ah, that's a shame. Though that appears to be anywhere, and not just outside of Japan.
The same thing happened with the Marvel vs. Capcom series.

...all the more reason for them to make a Nintendo vs. Capcom game...
