I agree... Sort of.

All consoles will soon be gone in the traditional sense . I guess another 2 generations. I don't understand targeting of the xbox, though.

EDIT: Wow, I just spent 45 minutes writing a detailed explanation of why ms is more likely to ditch the box sooner than sony is and vgchartz ate it.

Long story short, x1 pacing is really slowing down. ps4 is in a very very healthy position right now with very little competition. Outpacing ps3 by almost double and actually making a profit on hardware, which is likely increasing with every console they churn out (based on economy of scale). This is the opposite for MS. Though they are likely making a profit on each box, the costs involved are eating up their revenues.

It makes more sense for MS to change tactics than to continue drinking at a drying up well. Sony on the other hand is not in that position.

That's the gist of it.

EDIT2: I do wholeheartedly agree that the future is a livingroom without a box. However, Sony is more in the position to keep the box for now while they work on other things. And MS is more in the position to transition early.

Around the Network

Microsoft in my Opinion is treating the xbox platform more as a "windows OS 10" certified Device than really its own platform.

The Move to Unify their Windows OS with xbox really in my Opinion is more of taking the xbox platform to be pretty much just another device that plays windows OS build games, pretty much the Media Center PC that the Xbox has always been, but Now more than ever moving into that Direction.

I AM BOLO

100% lover "nothing else matter's" after that...

ps:

Proud psOne/2/3/p owner.  I survived Aplcalyps3 and all I got was this lousy Signature.

exactly. And with MS now buying up patents and technologies for streaming from computer to tv with a thumbdrive...

"Designed for mirroring

But the real difference is that Chromecast is designed for running mobile apps like Netflix on your TV. An ability to mirror your Chrome browser is more of an afterthought.

Miracast (microsofts thumbdrive) was designed first and foremost to mirror what your screen displays, so it serves as a second, wireless monitor."

It also doesn't require wifi. It's like a long range bluetooth with much faster speeds.

And it's only 60$

Not really considering how long they have been trying to push it. No matter if you like it or not MS WILL sell Xbox eventually unless they drastically change their business model (probably not going to happen)

no they won't, first because nobody would buy it, second because they drastically need it... It's not a matter of choice the living too space is the last tech space really up for grabs... Nobody truly dominates there only niche markets fractured in different entertainment segment (video game/tv,cable/streaming etc)... And display tech has a judge headway...

MS is mishandling it for sure but their vision is two step ahead of the competition... We will need a unique entertainment box down the last ne, not just a console, not just a roku, not just a motin/3d/VR/AR/ cable box stand alone... But an all in one box... I know i do and 100s of millions will eventually and then we'll head into the smart house for all area... But living room first.... Without that MS is in trouble in the long run outside of the business space....

Xbox has lost MS billions of dollars and most investors with MS want Xbox gone. It will be going away eventually to a new owner. Xbox is a very valueable brand it could be profitable if MS would handle it properly which they seem to refuse to do
