As always all eyes on Microsoft.

How can they not be when MS is so huge and obviously a company that will stay around way longer than most. #KeepHopeAlive

Mine was better. :D

Well it is April Fools. I'll give you an A for effort.

My guess is MS will try one last time next gen, but if they have another distant 2nd finish, they will either sell Xbox or drop out of HW and focus on SW.

This is a sensitive and controversial topic, I understand, but let's keep the borderline posts out of the equation. Throwing around accusations and words like "fanboy" tend to cause a thread to spiral out of control.

And just how do you think i associate you?

You see what you want to see, as in you pick and choose what you want to talk about, and then you make a thread about it with no real concrete information while ignoring other instances.  Seems about right

I do not pick and choose and I do not ignore. That has been your viewpoint on me since way back and that itself has never changed so don't go pointing fingers now. A lot of the things I've said have happened because I take all the viewpoints into account. Wii WAS a fad, Kinect WAS a fad, Kinect 2 DID hurt the system, PS3 DID come back, Sony DID NOT shut down playstation, PS4 DID continue to beat the x1 in sales even at the lower pricepoint.

Just an example of people who refuse to acknowledge when I'm right.

I'm just adding this to a long list of reasons:
The designer of xb1 was released a month ago. Not a single post in the thread I made announcing it.
One of the heads of xb is now leaving
xbox exclusives now going to pc
Can't keep up in sales
Microsoft is working on their own chromecast device: http://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-has-a-chromecast-dongle-in-the-works-and-it-has-passed-through-the-fcc
major shareholder calling for ms to cut xbox
In the end, there is no need for the xbox. Apple, Samsung, Amazon, Google are now all focused on bypassing the console in favor of a thumbrdrive streaming device. Now MS is working on their own streaming device that 'hint hint' specifically looks at PC to TV streaming. PC being where all the Xbox games suddenly are available.
MS has no need for a box.

You love to paint me like I'm a Sony fanboy who wants nothing more than to see xbox go away, but I play Microsoft games on PC. I grew up on Microsoft games. I play everything, for the most part. I am looking at this from a business perspective.

X will stay. The box will go.

This was a main argument for Microsoft not selling Xbox as it's their brand on lots of their other devices such as Xbox Music and Xbox Video.

By getting rid of the name on other services and focusing on the gaming aspect on Windows 10 it may only be a few years until Microsoft sells Xbox...

If MSFT really wants to distance themselves from xbox, why is the new browser called spartan? Why is the helpful assistant named cortana? Why is xbox live being ingrained with windows 10? Also why would MSFT include XB1 in develop 1 time for all devices. Yawn aren't you guys tried of this crap.

Shouldn't your question be:

"Why is Microsoft now branding Windows with Halo"

Just like konami was devoted to giving kojima everything he needed. Just like kojima is devoted to finishing these upcoming projects. Just like Sony was devoted to the minidisc. Just like Microsoft was devoted to Zune. Just like Sony was devoted to the Vita.

It happens, that's just business talk. In truth there just really is no need for the xbox.

I mean seriously, tell me what the xbox does that microsoft can't do for cheaper?
Google, Apple, Samsung, Amazon all can do what the xbox is doing on a thumbdrive plugged into the back of the tv.

You really think that? Not a single one of those companies is producing AAA games for their gaming products, nor are any of their mobile devices capable of producing graphics on par with Xbox One as of yet. Nor do any of them have a position that allows them to integrate console gaming and PC gaming into one experience (except for Apple maybe).

I don't know why you editted out the rest of the post, can you please not omit pertinent information when having a discussion based on the text?

"Now MS is working on their own streaming device that 'hint hint' specifically looks at PC to TV streaming. PC being where all the Xbox games suddenly are available.

Yes you are right. These devices are all streaming from phones, with phone graphics. They are not on par with xbox1 or PC. But MS is coming out with a device that would stream from PC. Therefore, your argument doesn't hold up because once the product is available, it invalidates your objection...because there would be a device capable. (again, MS is actually doing this. I didn't post a link just for fun)

Those companies can't compete, but you MUST acknowledge that they are challengers. They are being beaten, but they are still there putting up a small fight. MS streaming from PC would overstep them completely however, both performing their functions and a lot more, while simultaneously repositioning themselves to begin the battle with Valve.

It's really elementary when you think about it.

You just contradicted yourself. First you say MSFT is distancing themself from xbox, then you admit MSFT is branding their largest product with Halo, which is xbox.  Your exact words were "This is just another addition to a long list of Microsoft differentiating itself from the xbox brand."

This is clearly bait, so there isn't any need for me to reply further.
