Definitely lying. They lied about the release window and now they're lying about why it's delayed. The only reason is that Nintendo is ridiculously bad with their time and it takes them a million years to develop a game, yet they constantly pretend that's not the case because they want to lead us along with false hope.

And to the people that argue "This happens with EVERY Zelda..."

Yeah. It does. They lie EVERY GODDAMN TIME. This argument only proves how unreliable Nintendo's word is.

Or, you know, they could be following Miyamoto's advice that a bad game is bad forever while a delayed game is eventually good.

Given that this is the philosophy of the guy that invented the damn franchise and is in charge of the Zelda EAD department and is on the Nintendo Board of Directors only 1 step below Iwata himself.

Nah.  Can't be that.  They actually ahve a philosophy of intentionally giving the wrong release dates only so they can smile deviously as they later announce the delay they planned all along.  Yeah, that must be it.

They know that we don't like to wait a long time for games, so they pretend like they're coming sooner than they are.  They're not just trying to be devious or whatever; they're just trying to keep us from growing impatient.  If almost every game takes a super long time, don't you think they would be smart enough to factor that into their release dates?  When a regular consumer can look at a date and say it's bullshit, don't you think Nintendo knows it too?  Give them some credit.  If they're not lying about their dates, the only other option is that they really are that stupid.

It's like, I get it, they take a long time to make their games good.  Yet they're usually unwilling to admit that fact.  If they would just come out and be like, "The next Zelda is going to take another half decade," we would be miffed, but at least they wouldn't be lying to our faces.

Because positive scope creep never happens, right?

If you see it coming because it happens every time, it's not creeping.  But it's clear that we simply disagree on that.

i bet you that zelda U doesn't come out untill november 2016.

I predict it won't come out in 2015, but NOVEMBER 2016? Highly unlikely. If anything, it would be the spring of 2016. (Between Feb and May)

I hope that you are right.

If you see it coming because it happens every time, it's not creeping.  But it's clear that we simply disagree on that.

If you can see the new ideas before they design documentation is written, then you include them into the docuemntation and reasses the development period.  If the new ideas come into play after the fact and they are implemented, that is scope creep.

ALL development is designed with some buffer time already allocated.  But you can't allocate a whole year just because your last game needed it.

I also just disagree with the idea that the delay is because of new ideas.  I think it's PR bullshit and that they're just sucky and working at a good pace.  Again I site the fact that we can easily look at a date and know with certainty that it's just not going to happen and be proven right just about every time.

But everyone else is certainly allowed to believe Nintendo when they say they're just growing the scope of the game.  It's definitely possible; I just don't think that's what's happening.

i think hez lying, but we can never prove it. a game this huge being wasted on a console with a user base of 9 mil. wouldn't make much sense. even if they sold 4.5 million copies it would still be a joke. if nx comes out and they make it cross platform. it could do some decent #s if it doesnt iwata will be fired.

Have you ever studied Project Management before?

It would change your perspective on this.

A little, but that's irrelevant.  We're coming from different perspectives based on what we've observed of the company's visible actions.  Unless one of us can actually sneak into Nintendo and watch them for a few years, what we've got are just our own theories.  I'm perfectly willing to admit that we just disagree, and I don't feel the need to tell you you're purely wrong and would feel differently if only you had the right information.  So I'm done with this.

He's partially lying.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I know it won't be at E3. My comment clearly states that. The part that I said isn't true was the statement "because it won't be at E3 2015, it won't be released in 2015" which is not true. Get it now?

They say only games to be released in 2015 will be shown at e3, zelda is not being shown at e3 therefore it won't be released in 2015 get it.

they didn't say they won't show 2016 games.

I think it's getting delayed because Nintendo has 0 experience with a HD Open World game

This!!, and based on the demo from december, it looked empty and boring if it was going to come this holidays the possibility of the game been rushed was high. We will probably see a different game when we see it again, hopefully a lot better.

Of Course the reasons for delaying are BS-  Why they are delaying I can only speculate -  but the fact they saidf 2016 or even 2017 and thye are not showng it at E3 makes me think they are holding the game back for reasons other than serious development problems which could be the other real reason for delay.

Nintendo lies about game release dates and delays all the time-  they did it for the launch of the Wii U in a big way as well-

Does anyone really beleive they did not delay DKTF to cover a huge hole in their release pipeline?

Nintendo uses their games. particulalry their big IP, to entice as many people to buy the console as many times as they can-   didn t they just reasure everyone in December that Zelda would be ready for 2015 release?

There are so many examples of Iwata and company not being honest/frank with their customers it would be foolish of anyone to take what he says along with his fellow Nintendo execs at face value for anything-

The sad thing is so many core and loyal Nintendo fans/console owners will beleve nearly anything they are told by Nintendo so Nintendo feels they can get away w it -  However, IMO it seems a few more Nintendo loyalist "get wise" to Iwata and co each time they blatantly BS them - so it seems that core is shrinking bit by bit -

I bought the Wi U at laucnch for my sons 8 th b day-  but i would never buy one at launch again-   If I ever buy another Nintendo  consol it will be the same way I bought the Wii,  years into its lifespan after all but a few major  games have been released
