The Netherlands is a country in Western Europe which has aprox 16.4 million inhabitants.

There are 23 million people who speak Dutch in the world!

-16.4 in The Netherlands.

-5.6 in Belgium.

-900.000 in Suriname.

-A few old people in Indonesia and a few people on the ABC-Islands (Near South America).

I wanna know who on this site can speak Dutch, if only a little!

Dutch is known as one of the hardest languages to learn if your a foreigner! There is almost no person in the world who has mastered speaking Dutch perfectly (without an accent and without making grammar mistakes when speaking) that grew up learning another language. However, a lot of foreigners in The Netherlands know how to speak Dutch, only you can here really good how bad the suck at it! Only 2nd or 3rd generation foreigners can speak it really well.

Here are a few key phrases for people who speak other languages in Dutch:

English: Hello, how are you?

Dutch: Hoi, hoe gaat het?

English: What's your name?

Dutch: Hoe heet jij?

English: Where are you from?

Dutch: Waar kom je vandaan?

English: Have a nice weekend!

Dutch: Fijn Weekend!

English: Goodnight, sleep well!

Dutch: Weltrusten, slaap zacht!

English: I'm the proud owner of a Wii!

Dutch: Ik ben de trotse eigenaar van een Wii!

English: I've visited the US once!

Dutch: Ik ben één keer in de Verenigde Staten geweest.
