Of course there are more than 5 areas. I highly doubt they've already shown all the main areas to explore.

I don't see why the places in these pictures couldn't be found in the areas we've already been told about. I also don't think they would show us unrevealed areas at this point given they went to the trouble of not revealing them previously.

I do suspect the game is larger than what they've shown, though.

BUT these areas could simply be story related areas existing within the lands.

I think people focus too much on the number. Xenoblade also had five regions: Colony 9, Colony 6, Central Bionis, Upper Bionis, Hidden Village. Sure, each of these regions actually consisted of multiple areas separated by loading screens. The absence of loading screens separating areas in Xenoblade X is deceptive. Primordial Wilderness is certainly larger than the Colony 9 and Tephra Cave areas combined (together forming the Colony 9 region). It's probably larger than any single region in Xenoblade -- larger than the Bionis Leg, Colony 6 Area, and Ether Mine combined; larger than Satorl Marsh, Makna Forest, and Frontier Village combined.

I've seen the same mistake being made referring to New LA... people saying only one town is a disappointment after Xenoblade. But if that one town is larger than Colony 9, Frontier Village, and Alcamoth combined, and more heavily and diversely populated than them, it's not comparable to "one" Xenoblade town.

Anyway, considering Takahashi's statement that X is five times larger than Xenoblade, either these regions are even bigger than they look (likely -- I'm sure there are 'dungeon'-like areas not displayed on the map, a la Tephra Cave & the Ether Mines), or there are other areas outside of these regions we haven't yet seen (also likely). Or he's lying. That's technically possible.

The map is almost definitely segmented the way it is so that the game has time to load the other areas if you're flying by mech. Same basic purpose as the Great Sea in Wind Waker.

The game looks truly amazing.. Can't wait for the next Direct with Splatoon and XbX :D
