I said before people should be accepted warts and all. Perspective plays a huge roll in this. From a Christian perspective homosexuality is a sin or in my simplified example a wart. From a homosexual's perspective they may consider the view of homosexuality being sin as a wart. It depends from whose perspective you view things who is right and who is wrong. So many things in life boil down to perspective.

Ultimately religion societal progress hasn't occured in the US because of Christianity, its because of philosophy and humans rights movements. Religion was will always be used as an excuse for why people should be held down. Its just the way it is and when 78% of the country thinks like this, its very hard to find reason. This is not to say that everyone shouldn't have the ability to practice and believe in what they want. Thats what the forefathers wanted us to do and have the luxury to do. The problem with Christians that they are trying to force Christian dominant thinking into the political sphere and when that happens society will only fall from it. History books teach us how dangerous it is to mix church with state.

If this was true the Babtist minister Martin Luther King Jr should have led a very different life wouldn't you say?

Ministers have the empathy of a nation of believers. As a Christian it was easier to speak to Christians about political change. He was assassinated because he was making more social and political progress than religion. He went about peaceful progress because he's a pacifist like Christ was in the scripture. Malcolm X is the exact same way. You know...the same guys who Professor X amd Magneto were created after? The duality of peace vs militant by any means necessary tactics for social change. Most of these guys were socialist were socialist as well.

How is this possible ... using Chistianity as a vehichle to promote change ... doesn't work so well with your assesment of "Its actually a fact that religion has held society back" or with "Religion pushes society back. It always has and always will. Society's progress has always occured outside of religion, but some people need it to get through the day, so I digress with that."

"He was assassinated because he was making more social and political progress than religion." - can you possibly even back this up with facts?

No, you can't. You have to have an actual reason (they're disturbing customers, destroying property, etc). And that reason can't be because of race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation. That pesky Civil Rights act gets in the way of that.

I'm from Indiana. Fuck this law

Well, yes. He probably meant that like I did in my post. It shouldn't have to be typed. You should be able to refuse anyone, with a reason.

Civil rights has protected people from discrimination. Discrimination is not a reason to ban people from a business. Hospitals are businesses too. What happens if a gay person has life threatening illness or injury and dont have very long to live? Those religious hospitals would be to blame.

If a hospital refused to serve certain patients the insurance companies who would have agreements in place with the hospital would sue them for breach on contract and the bad publicity would destroy them. Their are pleanty on incentives for business to not descriminate and allowing people to chose who they do business with would only results in a few small business turning certain people away in the worst of the states.

Freedom of association also means freedom from association.

And everyone will hate me now but I like this governor now.

I don't want to agree or disagree with this outright, but the likelihood of this is very high and rightfully so.

Hmm strange someone has a different view and it's "rightfully so" that they should be hated for it...

When they're pushing for the continued hatred of others, then why not?

Exactly.

The irony is astounding. So you want others to feel hated and unwelcome but don't want to feel that way yourself?

What are you talking about?

Any business owner with some common sense would know that it would be unwise to reject gay customers. Not only do you lose customers but you also get bad publicity.

Anyways I wont be replaying anyone here. Kudos to the governor for making the right choice. Good decision.
