Can you prove that the number of RRoD disc read errors is above the acceptable range? No? Well, there you go. All the numbers are pure speculation only, Microsoft (or any electronic companies) doesn't release them for a reason.

Microsoft has publicly admitted the failure rate is around 33%, so yes you can prove it. The Wiis problem is with a handful of launch systems so it is impossible for it to approach an unacceptable number.

Microsoft is smart enough to NEVER mention the actual number, it would be a PR disaster.

Actually we can. Microsoft made it clear by reserving 1 billion dollars for RRoD issues, which means they expect having to repair millions of 360s.

so you do admit there is a known problem that affects a least a few people? Enough for them to issue a semi recall for all units effected by it?

Hence why I asked why there's such a lack of reaction. I know I can never prove how many actual units are bugged by this, just like I can't prove how many 360 units got RRoD.

but the known fact is, there is a problem to begin with.

That's Microsoft's money put aside for it. It doesn't mean all the money will be used or if there will be needing any additional money. Or even how much it cost for a single 360 to be repaired. So for that, it's impossible to accurately estimate the failure rate.

The fact is thar your argument got thinner and thinner as this thread went on. You don't have any solid reasons as to why people should be as angry with Nintendo as they are with Microsoft.

If in a few months it gets proven that this problem is huge, and people don't bash Nintendo for it, you'll have reasons to complain. Right now, you have some assumptions and an apparent desire to cry wolf.

I would say that if the failure rate of Brawl gets up to even 1/3 the rate of MS RROD, then Nintendo definitely has a problem. But it's nowhere near that rate or we would have heard from Japan very loudly.

Nintendo had an issue before with the WiiRemote breaking stuff, you might recall. It happened often enough to get a lot of attention. And Nintendo deal with it. Stronger straps, the bubble wrap, now it doesn't make the news anymore, does it?

It sucks to have anything go bad, but things do. So then you look at what the reaction is, if any. MS reaction to RROD was so poor, and the failure rate so high, people got on them.
If Brawl's failure rate is low, Nintendo gives a number of ways to fix it or if it can't, then they fix it free for the user, and it is shown that most of the causes (smoke/excessive dust) is user error (similar to the throwing of the wiiremote), less are going to attack Nintendo as being at fault.

Just as few would blame Sony, if you took a handfull of sand and poured it into the PS3 game slot. I would hope that most would consider that as 'user error' at best.
