Forums - Gaming - Wii's WPB vs Xbox 360 RRoD. Double standard???

The answer is incredibly simple, and has been explained numerous times. It is no mystery why people react less harshly when the problem itself is less harsh, and especially when the company handles it immediately and up front. The only mystery here is why you raised the issue in the first place, and why you refuse to acknowledge the very simple answer.

I've got a better question.

Why do shoplifters get treated less harshly then bankrobbers.

Seriously, if i didn't know you were doing this to just piss people off I'd think you were an idiot.

treated less harshly? Yes... went unpunished, no? The analogy would be the shoplifter got rewarded for apologizing for his mistake.

I have no intention to get anyone 'pissed off', and frankly, if you get pissed one if someone makes fun of the company who makes your console? You really need to think twice on if you really should put so much emotional investment in a company you don't even own.

I'm not pissed off if your refering to me, I just find it funny that you intentionally made this post to piss someone off.

I'm guessing no one is giving nintendo flak because it hasn't happened to them. If it happens to me, i'll be pissed and i'll give them flak.

It's such basic common sense that the only conclusions to draw is that your trying to piss people off or lack some sense.

Hell I didn't even know there was an issue until I read this post, due to it being an extremely unlikely problem.

Every console has stupid shit like this that happens with launch systems. The only difference is Nintendo actually told people, rather then just stealth fixing the problem when people called Nintendo.

Well, I really don't have energy to try to piss anybody off. That's why my first post contained minimal opinion and just stated 'issue' and 'result'.

Actually, earlier today, there were 3-4 threads about people stating they couldn't play the game they just bought. And almost all replies were either people laughing at at the user's bad luck or showing sympathy. There's never a mention of Nintendo's fault at all.

Frankly, if it's someone reporting RRod, the thread would right away become a flamebait. I just wanted to compare the two situations. It could've easily be PS3 vs Xbox or PS3 vs Wii.

RRoD deserves huge reaction, base on the way Microsoft treated, no objection

Wii problem deserves mininal reaction, since Nintendo was open and straight about it, no objection either.

but so far we've seen "0 reaction"... other than this thread.

For the umpteenth time:

RROD = huge reaction. Huge problem. Terrible handling by Microsoft.
WPB = minimal reaction. Minimal problem. Excellent handling by Nintendo.

Edited my post to provide the original quote I was responding to, before you edited yours.

So, your saying you want people to attack Nintendo for their launch consoles being sensitive to dust, despite the fact that it's not a continueing problem?

Look at the PS2 and the Gamecube.  People bitched about the PS2's Disc reading errors, and not the Gamecubes Disc reading errors.  The reason being... Nintendo fixed theirs shortly after launch.

Sony didn't.

Mistakes are understandable.  The mistake continueing after it's apparant are not.

That and people just like to hate on Microsoft.  Damn Linux and Apple fanboys.

i dont think he wanted to hurt anyone, i dont how that can happen, but i think he doenst understand how much nitendo fans loves the wii, it really kills him.

Nah, I said people should at least acknowledge that Nintendo messed up in the first place. Trust me, nobody bitched about PS2's issue more than me, you wonder why I don't own a PS2?

Let's hope Nintendo goes the way of Gamecube, fix the problem completely and that will be that.

What I'm afraid of is that without a public reaction, there won't be any incentive to fix the problem.

>Have you already forgotten? Nintendo issued a public statement to acknowledge the problem and offered to fix it for free.

So have Microsoft, after long delay, but so far we don't know the extend of the problem yet. Is it only limited to launch Wiis?

If people make a good deal (like they did with Microsoft), things tend to get done faster. It is PR politics.
