Id love if they swapped the word empires for mythology.

I have to disagree with that. I personally think that AoE 3 has better graphics than AoE 2 HD. And look at how gorgeous some of the more recent RTS games are, like Grey Goo and Tropico 5, AoE 4 could look even better than those 2 since it likely is going to have a bigger budget (the job listings for Decisive Games say that the game is AAA). ***pics*** |
It's ok.
I just prefer the look of the sprite based AoE games, I find them more warm. AoE 3 looked "colder" to me, less likeable.
Please excuse my bad English.
Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070
Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB
Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.
I want a Age of Empires 2 thing.
Ao3's trading thing I did not like. Also, I just find medieval to be the best setting and I fear that after the colonials Ao4 could be ww1/2 ages.
Lastly, the building and unit sizes were perfect in AOE2 imo. So yeah, a HD and mega developed version of AoE2 is all I want.......... though I guess if AoE4 isn't modern military I would enjoy it too. (in Rise of Nations I always made the age limit to be the enlightment age.)

I don't want a possible XBone or mobile version holding the PC one down. If they make more content, make expansions, not smaller DLC packages, and no day one DLC. A decent campain, both AoE2 and AoE3 had great campaigns.

I kinda prefer the sprites of old myself, 3 just didn't sit well with me and they also cut out a few good things from the previous games, it felt slightly like a barebones new AOE.
OT: I'd love if they just made the PC version first and made the XB1 version afterwards, I don't want anything holding an old RTS coming back in a big way, MS hit it big with AOE and someone needs to bring back the RTS genre in a big way, it may as well be Microsoft since Grey goo, Planetary Annihilation and recently Homeworld RM collection, all 3 are good RTS games (well maybe not so much PA since it needs more fixing and polish) but they didn't bring the genre back in full swing and all 3 haven't really generated a massive following like older RTS games like AOE had.
Also I really don't want the game cut into tiny pieces and sold as DLC, no day 1 DLC, just do expansions like the good old days, make an expansion say 1 year down the road and the year after that perhaps, doing stuff that way can go a long way to earning back trust and the RTS genre itself, fuck it all to hell with DLC and focus more on the XB1 side (UI and downgrades and other tacked on crap) and you risk blowing the game up and another chance at RTS revival.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
I played a shit ton of AoE II, but never got around to playing AoE III. I really enjoyed the campaigns of the conquerors expansion in the AoE II.
I prefer ancient or dark/middle ages or sci-fi in my RTS. Not really interested in modern age (i.e. post industrial revolution). Actually, probably what I want is really a re-imagined AoE II, so what I would like is highly unlikely to ever happen.

A WW2 era Age of Empires could be interesting. But I would begin to question whether it would really be true to its roots, given the lack of empires in this day and age.
Britain was really the last one (perhaps, arguably, the Soviet Union) and that Empire has long since receded.
I'd have no problem with an ancient-set AoE4 that just does everything the previous three have done, only better.
starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS
Just give me the classic PC gameplay. I could get behind ww2 to modern times setting - tanks and jets could be cool - but would also enjoy a return to the olden times.

Age of empires worked best with old age settings. I would rather see a reboot with a renewed focus on the setting and historical events.
I would also like the same from age of mythology.
