Forums - Nintendo - Worse Scenario: Nintendo Going Third Party Or Being Bought By Apple?

Being bought by Apple is the worst scenario. I would not buy any APple hardware, so basically I am in the same position I am now, no access to Nintendo games. If they went 3rd party then I would have the opportunity to buy the best Nintendo has to offer, like XCX. Assuming they are largely agnostic about their platform preferences.

Poor Atari and Neo Geo. Everyone forgets they made consoles before!

I rather Nintendo go third party then go to Apple only because the Xbox, Playstation, and PC have a history of gaming and Apple doesn't care as much as the other as far as dedicated gaming. But Apple - Pokemon - Disney collaboration can be very interesting though.

Lmao, do you even realise how obserd that sounds? You do know that none of those started with a "history of gaming," right?

I'll just throw this out there though ... the AppleTV is $69.99.

You wouldn't pay even $69.99 to play some Nintendo legacy games at least?

Apple controlling Nintendo would kill ALL Nintendo franchises. All of them.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I don't know if I agree with that.

Apple is (contrary to some people's belief) a fairly smart company.

Like when they bought Beats Headphones, it not like they totally changed the brand and made it "Apple Headphones". No because they know Beats has its fanbase and they weren't going to mess with the formula.

The main that would change is Nintendo obviously would be making software for Apple hardware and potentially an Apple console.

But beyond that I don't think they'd do anything crazy to the IP themselves, in fact I think they'd probably insist on the same high quality and push for more artistic/bold choices like the new Zelda. Having the Miyazaki of gaming to themselves is likely right up Apple's ally. Their marketing could also drive things like Splatoon to be big hits.

Well Nintendo didn't really start out as a video game company either. And PC has games for developed for it for a while. Apple has a history of video games but they don't seem to be pursuing dedicated gaming.

And if they bought Nintendo, that would be them "pursuing gaming."

I think the mentality comes from hardcore Nintendo fans believing that Nintendo is somehow the only company that cares about games. It's a fairly blind and ignorant mentality, considering that Sony has done nothing but prove the exact opposite for the last 2 decades. Some people are just that devoted to a single brand that they've entered an almost cultist mental state, and if their "god" disapears, they'll commit a sort of mass suicide (metaphorically speaking).

Going third party would be great for Nintendo. Hell, I might actually start buying their games again.

I don't really think it does, that's something other fans of another brand like to attach it to in order to see their brand as being better (like you've already written).

I wonder what would happen when your god crumbles, whether or not you will follow whoever obtains what's left of the pieces, you do carry a flag after all.

If we want to go with it being better for the Big N to go third party, it would actually be much better if all 3 did or at least MS and Sony from both a hardware and software perspective.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Yes but I rather have a company that has already made an effort in dedicating gaming partner up/buy Nintendo.
