I'm pretty sure they said bundles(yes those same bundles) were included in those numbers so.....

Apparently, they say that about every game where a bundle exists - doesn't necessarily ean they were counted in these sales.

Wait until Friday for the report from Media Create so we know for definite.

That's not true. Wii Party U was bundled and included in Famitsu charts but NOT included in Media Create, so they didn't say bundles included:

The only thing we have to confirm on Friday is if the bundle number is 64k as I was saying before. But the fact that the bundles are there is already confirmed.

Did the hardware sales include the bundled version? So if it did then they must have shipped very few bundles for the Ps4 not to sell much more.

Lol the bundle was sold last year over the holidays, doubt you can still find them. So no, the bundle isnt included in the PS4 sales for this week.

Again, read de opening! Bundles ARE included!

In the hardware numbers?? I dont think so. He was wondering if the Metal Slime PS4's counted towards the PS4 hardware numbers (not software) this week despite the fact they released last year and not the same week which I assume he didnt realise.

Ah, sorry. In that case is him that didn't realize that there's no hardware bundle this week. They didn't ship any hardware bundle, they were shipped last year. And its software sales are added to the opening.

Holy Crap. DQH sells to almost 1/3 of the PS4 install base on the opening week. That's crazy man. I wonder if Square is paying attention and if they will put an actual DQ game on PS4. It's pretty hard to go past an 18 million install base and put a game on a 1 million install base. But if they can expect a 30% attach rate then once PS4 gets to 3 or 4 million in Japan it's a pretty good bet.

How do MC and Famitsu have such a huge discrepancy with 3DS? Does Famitsu only track N3DS?

If DQH had been PS4 only I'm sure PS4 would have pushed a lot more hardware. But game sales-wise it was smart to make it cross gen. ~600K first week is huge.

A 30% attach rate on an install base of 3-4 million would be horrible for a mainline Dragon Quest since they typically sell 3-4 million.

Not if it sold more on the ps3 and they could release a vita version a year later.  They could definitely make it a success.

Assuming DQ has legs, It is probably safe to assume that if DX X(?) was released on PS4 when it was at 3 or 4 million install base it would continue selling as the PS4 install base grew and by the time PS4 got to 8 or 9 million the game would have sold 3 million or so.  But my point was that with a 3-4 million install base it;s possible for a DQ game to do 1 million for the opening week, which would make it a worthwhile prospect.

But maybe SE's strategy is for DQH to get PS4 owners interested (or re-interested) in the franchise so that the next 3DS version will sell even better. Ultimately SE shouldn't care what platform DQ comes out on, as long as it sells well. Sony can put forward a case for DQ to make a jump to PS4, on the basis of DQH success. But whether or not it's a strong enough case to convince SE to actually do it is a different matter.

Well Yuji Horii, the creator of Dragon Quest, already said DQXI is being made for home consoles and since the PS4 seems to have the brightest future out of the current home consoles, it makes sense to release it there.

DQXI should be multiplatform. Is there any particular reason why a home console DQ would need to be exclusive other than that someone is willing to put money in a hat for them? I expect Wii U and PS4 to have similar install bases in Japan, which means there's a good case to be made for taking DQ multiplatform.

Because they want to focus on one console? The Wii U and PS4 have completely different architectures and it's not like we're seeing my Japanese devs make games multiplatform games for PS4 and Wii U, so why would DQXI. Also being exclusive does have its own benefits.

Ps4 has a much longer and brighter future in Japan so if it was between the Wii U and ps4 I'd say ps4 gets it.  It will sell a lot more outside of Japan on ps4 and with a good debut for heroes it has to happen.  Maybe they will do a ps3 version aswell.  That combination is more likely than a wii and ps4 version.
