Forums - Sony - Project Morpheus coming first half of 2016 with OLED Display 1080p/120 FPS

120fps/Hz is great, but 1080p is a bit less than i was hoping for. They do obviously have to consider the limitations of static (and rather cheap) hardware, as well as keeping the headset itself affordable, but the option for a slightly higher resolution would have been nice.

i am really interested on this, all i want from it is to be compatible with games like Outlast, P.T (Silent Hills) and racing games like Driveclub.

hope the price is reasonable, im not expecting it to be less than 200 bucks but i dont think i would put more than 300 on it... unless there is some incredible games compatible with it.

But there is

Lets not kid ourselves here. Whilst its entirely possible that this thing can output 1080p at 120fps you need to remember the graphical hit that is gonna take place in order to get there. Your going to be talking seriously scaled back effects and textures to hit those frame rates so anyone expecting to play normal quality PS4 titles is going to be disappointed. Your more likely to be looking at upscaled PS3 quality visuals in order to achieve this.

so much speculation about graphics.  why not just look at the pics of the updated demos people were playing today.

it's no uncharted 4 but it looks nice.  artistic styles will probably be more cartoony than realistic to work.

...actually that's the first good news wrt to any VR to me.

i just read on another thread that harada said that he was joking with it being a whole game, just another Tech demo...

is less than 18 ms of delay good enough?

"Researchers say 20ms is when most people can no longer tell between VR and real world"

if you believe those lying scumbags at sony..

Sounds quite impressive so far. I wonder how it`ll do upon release. Price is definitely important here, which can go either successfully, or terribly.

Why are people so freaked out about the 120fps part? Do they actually believe they will get proper games running that fast? It's just what the device is capable of.

Any higher than 1080p and hdmi wouldn't be able to handle 120fps.

Would need displayport to do it, 120fps at 1080p is on the raggedy edge of hdmi 1.4's capability.
