Funny how metacritic is treated as useless and useful at the same time by fans.

I've heard many fans on this site claim there is a bias against Sony when The Order only reached 65%.

Anyway, remove all the cross-gen games and late ports/remasters and you get a different story. You could play most of the games you listed on a PS3.

People clearly don't base their opinion of metacritic. Reviewing games isn't exact science lol! Do you enjoy a game more just because the score is high on metacritic? I think DKC: TF is much better than Bayonetta 2, but metacritic says otherwise! Yeah, I'm going to follow my own feelings instead of relying on metacritic.

If you're a nintendo fan you're going to say Nintendo... And vice versa for most.

The question is totally subjective when you talk quality. I'll give it to ps4 just because it got newer games that were out in its respective time period. Plus I'm seeing more variety as well.

think it comes down to personal preference really. Also, I'm not sure about the wii u but the ps4 is missing some games (e.g., Diablo III Ultimate Edition).

I own a ps4 and dont own a wii u yet would still give a slight edge to the wii u (mainly due to the ps4 having no stellar exclusives in the first year to my knowledge). That said, I know I would be happier in the long term with a ps4 than a wii u.

edit: actually, infamous SS was a pretty fun game but I still don't see it on the same level as a main entry into the mario series.

The Wii U list also includes cross-gen games and late ports. Games are games. Removing cross-gen titles means removing almost all 3rd party titles (all on PS4, almost none on the Wii U), so it isn't a fair comparison.

Including all these games, PS4 is ahead in the following metrics: higher meta, higher sales, GOTY awards, more games. The only "metric" we can't talk about is the personal preference, which is fairly unreliable.

I'll go for the Wii U. It had enough games about 9 months in to make me buy it, I'm still waiting for more games to purchase a PS4.

Indeed metacrtics isn't the end of the story. For example The Order deserves to be 85% and Skyrim needs to be in the 60s. But in this case we merely look at the amount of games of each console that reached the threshold of 75%.

Most people(look at sales, current gen made up ~7-8 of each 10 copies sold despite bigger install base) played those cross gen games on the PS4 like myself. I had far more playtime with PS4 than any other game machine. It doesnt matter if they're cross gen, they're games I've played on the PS4.

Game companies buy all the ad space of review sites the day the review embargo ends. There's clearly a clash of interests going on here, so that makes review scores unreliable. You don't genuinly believe GTA gets those review scores fair and square do you?

GOTY awards are again determined by the same gaming "journalism". Do these "journalists" even have a degree in journalism or a Master degree at university?

More games? That's true. Most are cross-gen though. PS4 will win this year easily because most third party games will not be cross-gen. That wasn't the case in its first year.

As for personal preference. If you like Nintendo games a lot you vote Wii U, if you don't then you vote PS4. As it should be.

This year the PS4 will win though because of Uncharted 4, The Witcher 3, Batman: Arkham Knight, BloodBorne, Persona 5, Ratchet & Clank, Tearaway Unfolded, etc.

Nintendo is great, but only one company after all. One that has to support two consoles.

The list you precented in very subjective. Unless you look at all games on both systems, it doesn't represent all games period.... anyway, I would say the PS4.  It has many, many  more games and the market seems to agree as well.  Objectively, the first year of the PS4 is better because more people were attracted to it.   If the Wii U had outperformed the PS4 in sales, I think it would only be fair to say the Wii U had a better first year - because that would be an objective truth.
