Thanks for your input twesterm. Are there any more mods that could put their voices in on this situation?

No problem, that just means you keeping your sigs makes me like you less and possibly less lenient.

Also, don't count me as the final word. Other mods may hate advertising more than me and may actually do something about it.
Those are almost the size of the ad right below this *LaQuinta Inns*. So ads like crabmaster has is almost like free advertising. I think if you were gonna post a link to something like say a youtube video or a digg article then just a link is enough not a whole banner ad for a site with flashing letters and thinking one is worse enough theres 3 ad banners o.o

Well if you had bothered to look at the link you would have found out that the website doesn't sell anything. Workouts at their gym are by invitation only and they openly discourage people from getting in contact with them. Their website is for information purposes only. Now compare that to your website in which the sole purpose is to sell product, that contains no other real content besides being a store, and that basically turns it's members into spammers. Also my link is not an Ad like yours. |
Well if you had bothered to look at the link in my sig you would have seen that they dont sell anything either. So what is the citeria for advertising then. Your link takes the user to another webpage, that webpage gets addition hits. Its still advertising whether its for a product, a company, a volunteer organization or just information.
I was just trying to show that a person opening a thread regarding an IGN game review or a gamespot controversy or whatever is also advertising that site. its not better or worse than an ad in someones signiture. Unless that persons opinion is for or against what the advertisment is promoting.
That is horrible. I hate people that spam. BTW, if you want liberty in our lifetime, lower taxes, and all that jazz, visit http://www.freestateproject.org :)
If it works out for that Turtles fan I might just put 3 banner ads in my sig. That would be cool. Actually, I have two banner ads to VGChartz in my sig file on another forum :)

I understand. Im curious to know if another mod has ground to do anything about it? There is nothing stated anywhere on the site prohibiting it is there?

No, you link is just advertisement spam. True, they don't sell anything but they either make you look at a crap load of advertisements, sign up for crap you don't want, or spam forumswith your stupid sig.
The easiest way to know that your sigs are shit is because of the little r=xxxxx at the end. By having those all your are doing is using the people on various forums and I truly do wish I could do something to get rid of them.
lol not advertising and not selling anything? Its a sign up service, you think they give games for free without getting something in return. Those are one of the biggest spam cons in the net today, "sign up and you'll get this free ipod!" or "sign up and get a free ps3!" doesn't matter if they actually deliver the goods, its all advertising and need to sign up.
Those are basically spam I get in my email always asking me to sign up for something but now you have 3 ad banner as your sig advertising. I don't know how ioi is letting this go, this guy is one of the first I seen having ad banners so it isn't a wide spread thing, this is one of the things ioi should have mods for, to stop free advertisment for other sites. This is just such a blatant advertising with having 3 ad banners. If you really want to get the word out then make a topic in some forum and just post about it and let mods see how to deal with it, not put it on your sig.

He brought up a good point here. What about people with VG Chartz banners in their sigs on other websites? VG Chartz gets promoted for free. Should that be prohibited there aswell? It all evens out.
