Mother 4 will release for free on Linux, mac and PC in northern summer. Follow the project’s progress on its website.

It was supposed to come out last year. -_- I feel the same way about this that I do about all indie games. I'll believe the release date when it's out. Until then, I'm not going to let myself get excited for another three delays.

EDIT: As for what they should do, if Nintendo has any brains, they should pull a Capcom and officially release this on the Wii U or 3DS. It's literally good PR on a silver platter, on top of a virtually free game.

Mother 4 was one of the last things I thought would be talked about on the forums! I`m beaten again!

It's looking pretty well made actually. I'm honestly quite surprised how much effort has been put in to make it feel authentic. I really hope they come out with a concrete release date soon though. Last I checked it's set for 2015 so here's hoping it comes soon.

Nintendo rarely shuts down fan games, and there are plenty of completed fan games of Nintendo franchises right now that have far less original assets than this has.

Completely forgot about this! I was keeping track of this a few years ago but fell off. But damn, can't wait for this to come out as I will play it day one! I'm not even a big Mother fan and I'm excited.

I might be mistaken, but I faintly remember Nintendo issuing a cease and desist not too long ago.  If I'm mistaken, then it probably was squeenix.
