This is a hyperthetical, but if Nintendo released a USB dongle that cost $150US and all it did was upsacle to 720p and that's all, would you buy one?

$150... ha no (of course this is impossible, but you said hypothetical)
$150 could be used to buy 3 games... much more worth my money.

how about if it upscaled to 1080p?

it is possible, the upscaler device would attach to the AV multi out of the wii while being powered by the USB on the back or an external powersupply, it would of course look like the wii has some tumor growing out if it.

to make wii games have 1080p graphics, and yes I am aware that it's not the same as actually rendering at 720/1080p, however the reason I brought up this thread is because I've notice that there are some on VG that would love their wii to output HD graphics.
i know i dont see why people want their HD graphics the wii has sold better then 360 and ps3 and almost better combined and it has no HD
No need for it here, no HDTV's in house and probably not any for a few years.
Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.
you realize most HD-TVs are capable of upscaling incoming signals.
the Wii is an epidemic.
