Fictional story based on the historical settings of WW1, it doesn't have to be 100% correct. The tanks was invented back in WW1, the zeppelins, the Gas bombs etc etc. there is a lot of material there to create an alternative story of the WW1. I just wanna experience the trenches, the enviroments. etc as long as those things are real, it doesn't matter how the story goes when it comes to realism. they did actually have spies back then as well, and warfare outside of those trenches. The problems is that there is a lot of great stories during WW1, but it wasn't as recorded as the WW2 was, and therefore we don't hear as much about WW1 as we hear about WW2. it's do-able and with a good tweak on the plot it can turn out a good game with those amazing scenaries.

I agree it could potentially be interesting, although it would be much harder to make interesting than most other eras.. Personally I'd much rather a strategy game than an FPS. As an FPS it wouldn't really work unless it had a heavy story focus. I don't think the multiplayer would ever be as interesting as a modern or even WWII FPS game, which would turn off a lot of people so trying to win the single player crowd over instead would be very important. But even then it would take quite a bit of work to get it to be interesting enough for people to want to play it.

Plot: You are an British spy, who worked for an Secret agency in london, england. ( A little james bond )
Your mission is to infiltrate and gather information about the german army to look for a weakness ( The germans lost because of the lack of resources )
( Like the order ) you get special gadgets and weapons. to get to berlin you had to get from france to berlin on foot.
( A lot of things can happen between that destination to the other ) So the missions will work like espionage missions.
You had to help out on one or two of the trenches to get an exit route to germany, which includes an warfare, where british soldiers had to sacrifice themselves to help you reach the enemy trenches, where you kill germans in the trenches, all the way to the commander to assasinate him.
etc etc etc. Again, a lot of gaps to fill. and on your way to berlin, you find a factory where they manufactured tanks and such, infiltration and you have to get certain blueprints and sabotage the factory. later you dress up like an german soldier, and you get to meet Hitler ( he was in the service back then as a corporal i think it was ) and you get all the way to germany where you infiltrate the military Admin buildings, and manage to find a weakness, where you have to escape from an entire army that are chasing you on a auto-mobile, until you can get to the danish boarder, over the sea to sweden to reveal to them the secrets, so they can send the message to the british army. you are contributing on cutting the incoming supplies the germans needs to continue fighting the war, by blowing up railroads etc etc. There is a lot of things that can be done, it's just need a lot of research and historical events, and link the character to those events. Alternative story can be whatever that might work with the historical moments.
A great WW2 game would be adventure/puzzle survival game, where you are an jewish prisoner in a consentration camp. That would be awesome, but that will neither never happen.
